Using a heavier weight oil is a band-aid solution to your leak. It will decrease the oil flow through the engine, decreasing cooling and lubrication. Start-up will cause more wear on parts. You don't want to hurt your engine just to temporarly fix a leak do you?

Im pretty sure it's a somewhat univeral part between toyo engines...mine broke on the 1j when I put it in, so I used the one from my 4runner which I bought new from toyo not long ago. It was about $90 from the dealer IIRC.
Isn't there some sort of vsv under the intake manifiold which the CC connects to? I don't think it gets straight plumbed into the intake. I will check my motor later.

They are DIFFERENT HEADS... I'm not too suprised the holes in the HEAD GASKET are different.
I suspect the main reason some folks will say the 2j gasket is better on a 1j is due to availability.
