I had a tick before the engine rebuild, all clearances were in spec.. put it all back together, lapped the valves.. set clearances to the tight side and it still ticks. Nothing too bad, it sounds like a old sewing machine.

What I do is cut it down with a grinder. Usually keeps the fraying down to a minimum.
Then, wrap the end with electrical tape. This keeps the frayed wires kind of straight (they will go through the tape..)
Then, grab the base of the an fitting (usually red) and "screw" it onto the hose, until...
I've seen some pretty weird oil leaks where it leaks into a sort of pocket in the frame rail and then only leaks out when there's airflow past the pocket. I think that's the venturi effect. Correct me if I'm wrong.
Then again... I don't think there's really a way for that to happen with the...
Oh dear god. Its easy for coolant to not hit the ground. There are lots of hot things in the engine bay... Like a turbo for instance. :nono:
I've said it a thousand other times and I'll say it again, just because its loosing coolant doesnt mean its a blown head gasket. If you want to rule out...
I've only noticed the oil pump. All accessories are the same (unless you don't have PPS on your N/A, then I believe the power steering pump is different.. But I'm not sure that all GTEs have PPS or not.. So don't quote me on that.) and the starter is the same.
.....everyone needs to stop throwing out blown head gasket at the slightest of things.
Might be blown head gasket because it has low compression on one cylinder and a miss.
On the other hand... Might be damaged rings/ringlands/cylinder because theres low compression and a miss. BUT it doesn't...
Got some gaskets and put the downpipe back in. Also put the fuel tank in and filled her up... I honestly didn't hear the car start the first time.. How quiet is factory exhaust with the two cats?!?
The no ac wont cause a code unless you try to turn the ac on. Code 51 is also shared with no park / neutral signal (for autos) and no idl signal from the tps.
And I had a jdm ecu when I was n/a, went to a usdm ecu when I swapped to Turbo. Didn't change the speedometer. No codes. I'd check the...
So I may have gotten a little side tracked while waiting for the sealer in the tank to cure....
Factory downpipe with the cat cut out and a pipe welded in place, and then extended and re welded to bolt up to the factory cat back. Not a lot of work and only ~$15 worth of materials...
Check for exhaust leaks before the o2 sensor. At that lean you definitely would've melted a piston or 6 by now.

Update. Measured up the frame. I only had time for one measurement. It was from the top of the hatch to the front bolt hole for the crash bar. Turns out the side that got hit was a 5mm too close, and the other side was 5mm too far away. I think that's pretty good for being hit at ~40...
