you wont screw it up, start with 800 or 1000 and go up then use plastic polish to really shine it up. it will make a world of difference I've done it plenty of time to remove part numbers that are molded into the lenses.

sand with wet dry sandpaper and work your way up.

well it's a 462, with is a lincoln engine, and its pretty rare. no one seems to make any performance parts for it. I guess when I rebuild the engine I'll port and polish the head, and intake manifold. You can get custom made camshafts for it but beyond those things theirs not a lot to be...
