Nice work!! What did you use to mod the CPS? I've gotten a little off track with my swap but will hopefully get it all together in the next few weeks...
Few questions for you smarty-pantses:
1. What's the best way to get the dowel pins out of the flywheel for machining? Other cars I've worked on you can get to the back of them and hammer 'em out but the flywheel ring gear is in the way on the 1j fw
2. Where can I get a dowel pin (Toyota?), one...
Hopefully that'll be me in a couple weeks-fat dude in a red Supra wearing a VT shirt thinking all he needs is a big turbo and some corn to go fast :biglaugh:
I bought one off ebay last night, hopefully it'll be here by Friday. Good to know DM has them too, though.
Poodles-"does that mean I can keep my weed?" :biglaugh: The VW beetle thing was killing me too
I left a note to leave it with the old lady next door, she's always there keeping an eye on the neighborhood and making sure the teenagers across the street don't play their "rock music" (rap) too loud :biglaugh: Couldn't pick it up tonight because I got home around 8 and her house looked dark...
Made a little more progress tonight, although I got distracted by a bottle of Ron Matusalem and Gabriel Iglesias' stand-up special:biglaugh:
Mocked the turbo and installed the sandwich adapter and 4' oil feed line:
I'm a little worried about the sandwich adapter, it looks like...
For some reason the text disappeared on the previous page, the pics of the engine and car were from after I degreased/washed, looks mucho mejor now...
Freakin UPS, my clutch was supposed to be here yesterday and it's signature required. Who's really at home at 10AM on a Monday???
Spent most of the evening wrangling the downpipe out of my escort to plug some holes in my wonderful welding so I can take it for an inspection but I did manage to paint the valve covers:
Also ordered the rest of the gaskets etc. I need, I'm used to walking in a parts store and them...
That makes sense, there was a bracket above it that looked like it held something like that. Guess there's no emissions on Houston :) I'll take the actuator part off your hands, let me know how much coin...
Suprasport came through, looks like the best way is just to PM Jack. My clutch will be here Monday :)
Been looking at some stuff on the 2J and had some questions:
Looks like there is something missing above the EGR valve, any ideas what it is?
Also some spare Vac lines by the p/s...
The ebay turbo kits aren't bad as long as you go into it knowing some stuff will have to be adjusted. Make sure you clean the inside of the turbo out too, I've heard stories of blasting media being left inside of the housings.
As long as you tune with a little overhead on boost a MBC will be...
Looks like a fun project! For the lex route, you can get a lex afm for around $80 shipped and an Apexi safc for ~$150-200. You'll need 550s and a wideband with either route and you can build a $10 boost controller from home depot parts (there's a few how-to's if you search google). Not sure...
Sold :) And thanks for using a 2jz-gte instead of doing a NA-T 2jzge, we don't want word getting out to ensure that there's ample supply of $250 motors for a long time to come :naughty:
2j ftw!! Wouldn't represent very well if the 7M got rod knock on the tour :)
Lance-let me know if you still need to borrow my R154, I spent most of the week drinking beer instead of working on my engine so it won't be going in for a few weeks...
This motor is gone, sold it along with my rod-knocking 7M that was in the car for $300 last week :) My garage is almost 7m-free, sold off everything to pay for my 2j swap parts. Shoulda done that a long time ago...
