Been there done that, I lost a 7M once when one of the temp wires was unplugged, the "HEAD GASKET" blew and it overheated so bad the motor quit running and the gauge was only sitting at 1/4. But as Jono said stock gauge is usless. Live and learn, but its just a car not like you killed a person...
