5 spd Manual or 4 spd Automatic? Cost of repairs is difficult to estimate with no indication of what is actually wrong with it. A decent replacement tranny looks to run in the 600$, although im sure you could find one cheaper. It sounds as though you will be having a shop fix it...

Did it feel like a shit laden diaper? New oil filters are very lightweight. You should easily be able to tell if there is any oil in it.

Pull the resistor out of the side of the blower motor housing. Chances are that 1 or 2 of the coils have a break/corrosion in them. Replace it.

Clogged PCV system? Excessive blowby? Testing will give you a better idea.

Check for a parasitic loss on the battery when the car is off. Also load test your alternator to see if it even works.

Looks good to me. You would definitely tell if it was out of timing, what you are showing is +-1/2 a degree. Have you had the head machined?
