Dry. If they don't come with anything on them you don't need to grease them.
Main seals go in dry too unless they come from Toyota with grease already applied to them.
iirc that was with old owners as well. Not sure if the new owners still have any of of the original concepts.

sounds like the igsw wire is not wired in. should be the gray wire on the engine harness side of the b1 connector. that will have 12v with ign on and then the ecu will power m-rel wire which is the black orange wire which powers the...
Could just travel farther for a good machine shop. depending how deep it is could need to be bored.
Also could be scoring from the pistons and they could be damaged as well.
Peak torque is the same. Same power as well.
All vvti does is adjust intake cam timing for better low end torque and helping the turbo spool earlier.
If you go vvti make sure you get the correct engine as the early ones with a manual throttle body with cable are much easier and cheaper to swap.
The heavy act pressure plate can be some of the issue as well. even tho you disabled the clutch start switch it still puts a lot of stress on the thrust bearing.
IF you throw another 1j in replace the stock oil pump for a 2jzgte one. it flows more oil.
Tps could be out of adjustment or it needs to be replaced. I had one fail directly after changing the head gasket one time.
For the 52 how did you do the rewire. Did you ground one side of the shielding like stock?
They still had gold ones at the stores last time I went. They also have the white ones as well.
Those in there site could either be new product or maybe there changing things up.
