ok guys---update.....
I finally got around to checking my timing. I pulled the timing cover off, inspected everything. things look good. i rotated the crank to "0". The cam gears line up to the hash marks on the rear timing belt cover just behind the cam gears & the distro is right at no. 1...
also, you said something about giving it a little bit of gas b4 it turns over?? you shouldn't have to, it's fuel-injected with a cold-start primer valve. check timing. as far as the coolant light, check fluid level in your res and/or the coolant temp sensor... -hope some of this helps
yeah, i swear by simple green. it's good stuff! i don't really have a problem with the cleaning bit (did you see my engine bay?). just trying to figure out the best way to attack it from the inside out. pieces of mold and crap are getting loosened up but stuck between the lenses. still try to...
i've searched & read a lot of the porting & polishing threads on here, but i had a ? about it i didn't see an answer to. 'scuse me for asking, i just don't know...does porting the intake manifold do anything "negative" to the air flow readings from the computer? engine run weird or anything...
yeah i did the obvious. soap and hot water and let it soak in the sink over night. than drained and rinsed. but there'e some moldy stuff in between the lenses. that's what i'm trying to get out. i'll probably try to pull apart the lens. i've done that with a friends integra headlight, but that...
ok guys...i got a set of 89 tailights from a scrap yard localy. they are in good shape, no cracks or fades..BUT..as we all know, they have a tendancy to collect water over the years. There's mold and dirt floating around between the lenses. Any way to clean the INSIDE of the light really well...
sorry, i must have written something funny and not known it. the rotor does NOT spin frrely, contrary to what i said b4. my mistake. i was thinking of when i was turning the crank with a wrench. i'm pretty sure my cams are fine. they're new. in fact, the whole head has been re-built with new...
johnathon- I agree about the oil, but the valve cover gaskets are new. I believe thr ings are bad and oil is seeping up. i will be doing a compression test later in the week. thank you for your concern about codes. i'm sure it's easy as pie. it's just finding time and good weather to do it. I've...
ok..update...i had to work a ot of hours this week and was only able toget back to the car this past weekend. i bought a battery, replaced the plugs and added a couple of gallons of high octane gas. checked my wires, vaccuumm hoses and everything else i could find since last time.......no luck...
akito----it sounded like your starter was going bad. after a while, they'll start sticking and you have to use the infamous "hit the starter until it turns" technique. i'm pretty sure my starter is ok. it was making "starting" sounds.
PLau000----i'm going to check the wiring once again. just to...
anyone know how to remove this trim behind the drivers window without breaking it?

ok...so i can probably rule out a comp test for now. i'm puzzled by the hideous noise as well. it made a chirpy-squeally sound and then completely stopped. dunno. ya know how these thiongs go, it's probably something simple. at this point, i almost want it to be something bad just to be worth my...
yes, i think the fuel is flowing. i can smell gas out of the exhaust pipe after a few turns, but no start. i think the igniter should be fine. i replaced it just b4 the HG job. during my test the other day. Also, i pulled the coil wire from the center of the distributor cap and had a friend...
i've checked everything i can think of. i'm pretty careful about that kind of thing. However, the radio was stolen and the center dash piece with the radio connectors, hazard switch, lighter, etc. is missing. is there anything in that electrical that has to be connected for it to turn over...
yeah, i had a friend watch the engine as i turned the key. everything's spinning, pulleys & belts, So, i'm assuming the crank is turning. I did change all the fluids after the HG job. I did notice after that there wasn't much oil on the dipstick after pulling it, but added 2 quarts just so if it...
