Had a fan clutch lock engaged on me this past summer. This was the result:
I have since decided against the factory fan and opted for the "evil" twin electric fans:
Haven't had an issue with the Flex-a-lite electric fans yet, but they are wired with 8ga leads and controlled...
My factory clutch held fine for several 400hp+ pulls on the dyno. However, since the exhaust upgrade and intercooler upgrade I have noticed it can slip in third & fourth gear. Haven't been back to the dyno yet to see where the power is at now.

Red Top here. Appears fine. Electric fans seem happy with 8ga leads for plenty of amperage. Alternator is on the list to be upgraded at some point. Battery box is from EBay and required a little shaping of the bottom plate to fit square and flush. Nothing my grinder and finishing file...
I'm pretty sure that's the second time I've seen that exhuast from Denton, TX on EBay. I was interested last time, but he's firm on the price...or was last time. It is a unique system, but is starting to look a little rough, IMO.
You could probably have an exhaust system made from DP to tip...
If your relay is throwing voltage all the time then I could see this draining your battery. In my case the voltage is only thrown to the starter when the key is turned to the start position.
My assumption is my passenger kick panel relay isn't throwing enough voltage/amperage to the...
Hello,
Well, looking at the poorly scanned schematic image on post #59, I see the clutch switch and the passenger kick panel relay. Anything else?
The clutch switch was bypassed many, many years ago...so that can't be the problem in my case. That leaves the relay in the passenger kick...
Ok so, my 1989 7MGTE has recently developed this problem. I replaced the starter with new and it made no difference if not worse. With the old starter I could eventually get the starter to fire off if I continued to rapidly turn the key to start over and over. With the new starter no such...
Long, long time ago (maybe 1991-1992)...my roommate was t-boned in the driver's door of his 1990 7MGTE by a 1980's suburban that ran a red light.
He walked away with minor scratches and a couple bruises. I'm pretty sure both vehicles were totaled. I know his Supra was.
Pretty safe cars...
VibrantPerformance.com. Muffler is part #1043. 3" inlet and dual 3.5" Round Angle Cut Tips. Stainless Steel.
I also have the Vibrant #1142 Ultra Quiet SS Resonator. The system is all one piece design with SS V-Band flange assembly #1491 attached to the 3" downpipe.
The improvement...
Looks good and I bet it sounds great. That's awesome that you found a 3" HKS system...they can be hard to find. How much did you pay for it?
I've never been a fan of the single tip exhaust on the MKIII and wish more manufacturers offered dual tip systems for the MKIII.
I had a 2.5" HKS...
Steering wheel looks nice. I have a 1989 steering wheel that looks very similar to the one in your picture. How much to re-wrap it in factory black?
Thanks!
Brad
I'm doing the same right now, but I like the idea of having a serial port mounted somewhere hidden yet easily accessible.
Has anyone else had difficulty placing the AEM standalone in the factory ECM location without interfering with the glove box opening and closing? Mine will open and...
I downloaded it to my wife's 1st gen iPhone this afternoon. Pretty slick program for $13. Super easy to setup and run. Keeps a running average of each car you create as well as a history of every run.
I suck at launching, but the three runs I ran came in at 379hp - 414hp - 386hp. Last...
I have the stock springs and struts/shocks with TEMS, aftermarket swaybar and HKS TEMS controller on my 1989 7MGTE. The car just now has 60k miles, so everything is still pretty tight and responsive. I'm considering the Illumina II's, but haven't decided on springs yet.
I don't think...
Sorry if I wasn't clear. No, I didn't say I'd sell the kit because ETS sent the wrong couplers. Not sure where you got that impression.
I said that so far I haven't been impressed with ETS (for a number of reasons) and hope to be blown away with the kit once it is installed. If not then it...
I'll be sure to post thoughts and detailed pictures of my polished stainless ETS kit once it is installed. Right now it's still sitting in its box at the shop that will be installing it. It would have been installed by now, but ETS sent the wrong color couplers.
Up to this point I've been...
You should be able to order one through the dealer. Mine is relatively new, but somewhere between 1989 and today I lost both front corner under panels. Called the dealer and they have them on the way for about $45 each. Hope to see them arrive this week.

Yah, seven runners might pose a problem for an I6.
Has anyone found a FFIM "kit" with piping, intercooler and everything for a complete 7MGTE package?
Are either of these worth a shit?
