I know two local mk3 mechanics that have told me they would do a MHG job for around $800 parts and labor (that's with a proper machine job). If you already blew the headgasket, you'll be paying more esp. warping or damage has been done.
+1 for 24mm. I also reccomend getting a breaker bar if you don't already have one. I replaced my tranny oil within the last year. and I gave myself a headache trying to loosen it with a regular socket wrench.
I vote Impreza as well!
Subarus have the highest resale value of any car right now (higher than Honda).
I'm saving up money for a new DD and I want a WRX.
I can't say which one is easier honestly, but I'd go 1jz personally...
but you'd need a new bellhousing, flywheel, and probably clutch to convert the w58 (i'm assuming that's what you have?)
Plus you'd need a new ecu for an automatic.
If you want to keep a manual transmission, it would...
I just upgraded to 18's and think they're the perfect size for Mk3's personally.
I personally don't know how you could run 19's or 20's without rolling the fenders or worrying about rubbing of some kind.
I had stock springs on Bilsteins, with sway bars upgraded... Lemme tell ya, new springs were by far the best suspension upgrade I've gotten so far. IMHO stock springs are rubbish for road racing. I personally couldn't tell much difference between stock and upgraded sways. I didn't really...
Here's my 2 cents
Shocks - Keep the bilsteins and get some new springs like H&R's. Super stiff, but you can still do every day driving on them. (This is what I have btw)
Brakes - I've seen Wilwood 4 piston kits on ebay for ~750-800$. Big Zavs is a friend of mine, and he bought one, and...
The only reason i was even considering the 7.5's is I found a set of rims I really like that were that width, but in the end I probably won't be going with those.
Hvyman - I was never considering going with 6.5's. You must have read me wrong... And I know about the Doward kit, but those are...
I'm currently running 16" rims, and I'll be upgrading in the very near future. I'm going to go at least 17, or very likely 18, with at least a 7.5 inch width.
Once I get the new wheels, I plan on upgrading the brakes as well. I already have two calipers that a friend got off a T-100 (4...
Ya know, the spoiler on that first car the TS posted isn't too bad IMO.
But to the Topic Starter - with the car you've got and that particular hood, you should get a Bomex wing. Body kits like yours, combined with a Bomex wing, and that CF hood would look pretty awesome... at least in my...
To topic starter -
Are you sure the turbo is surging? The factory BOV gives off a fluttering sound, different than most aftermarket BOV's. Is it possible you just got the sounds confused?
I can't get to my car this second to determine the order, but I know that I used both the Toyota grommet thingy, and a washer on each allen bolt. I'm not sure how much of a difference this makes personally, but I know that I did this job like three times before I finally got the gaskets to seal...
