I read in the owners manual, if you run at speeds over 75 mpg, add 8psi but don't go over the max tire pressure.
When I checked them it was at 22 psi. I increased that to the sticker in the glove box 28 psi.
I now aired them to 44 psi to see what happens.
The tire pressure on the Supra says 28 psi.
I assume thats with a 35 psi max factory tire and I assume most car tires have around 35 psi max.
I have General tires with a max 44 psi.
When a tire has a higher max pressure of 35 psi do you still set the psi to factory setting?
I am having...
It shifts into OD today when motor cold. I guess I need to find out why.
I will test the temp sensor.
If the temp sensor is not working correctly, will that affect my cold and warm shifts?
I drove around today and when it was cold it shifted fine but later when I got on it, it shifted hard...
I have a belt and cam seals.
What other parts should I replace while in there? Front main seal, internal t-belt parts, water pump???
Tools I will need to get torque wrench and chain wrench. I have a puller and can rent one if mine doesn't work from parts store.
I got the dist installed correctly long time ago.
I removed the bolt that is in the middle, that didn't help.
I replaced the thermostat with a new one and gasket.
How many times can I remove the thermostat without replacing the rubber gasket? Should I just get a gross of the gaskets...
The belt was replace 12-16-97 at 58961 mi.
It now has 10300 mi on it.
The belt looks good.
Does the belt wear out over time, 10 years or is it just mileage?
I removed the cover by removing the thermostat cover.
To me it looks like the middle bolt that is hanging up. Its the bolt that doesn't come out when you loosen it.
Anyone remove it and replace it with something else, can it be removed without removing the thermostat cover?
Any reason that...
I have a oil leak from the front part of the motor.
I removed the timing cover to see if the leak I have is a cam seal.
If the cam seal is leaking, will it leak in front of or behind the inner metal cover bolted behind the timing cover?
Looks like there is some oil behind the pass side cam...
I was going to replace it when I replace the t-belt but would like to replace the seal now but don't want to replace the belt at this time.
Just wanted to know how to do it without doing a t-belt replacement?
Does the 87 Supra auto tranny have a cold shift mode like other Toyota trannys have where it wont shift into overdrive until the temp gets to a per set temp?
My tranny shifts hard, when I floor it, until the tranny gets warmed up.
It also shifts into overdrive when the tranny is cold.
If I...
I have a timing belt waiting for install, guess, if its the cam seals, it will be part of the timing belt replacement.
Unless the Maxlife fixes the leak (wish)
I have found a leak but can't find where its coming from.
It looks to be near or at the water pump and.
I fixed the dist oil leak with a rebuilt dist and no leak there.
I replace the valve cover gasket not long ago.
What would leak around the water pump area.
The leak is dripping through the...
It could be that the last owner may of had work done to the motor and the throttle cables were removed and not adjusted correctly.
I did have the throttle cables off when I tuned it up.
Don't remember if I adjusted the tranny cable before or after the tuneup.
I tried leaving the foot on the peddle but for some reason I could leave my foot on the peddle and engage the CC but it wouldn't lock up until I let my foot off the peddle and would still drop rpms.
I haven't tried holding my foot on the peddle and letting the CC take over yet.
I adjusted the cable a little be it the delay is not as bad.
I also adjusted the throttle cable to the auto tranny for a second time.
Things must stretch over time.
