i currently own a 86.5 factory turbo mkiii. ive had this money pit for about four years now. the first factory gte engine was beat at 145k miles, due to the prior owner, it might have lasted me one summer after fixing all the hillbilly hack jobs they did to it. since the ive been threw two ge's...
hows your t-stat? and have you ever bled the cooling system properly? when mine started doing the same bs yours did. i found it to be a t-stat.. well on my na car.. now on the gte it was allways the head gasket... take peoples advice and dont drive it until you figure out your problem and then...

i am having the same problem with my 88 na.. i have no clue what is going on.. at 10 deg it idles normal with low power and spark knocks.. at 14 deg it runs great but throws a ing sig code along with a 52 code.. rad is full but over flow is empty.. im thinking it is a head gasket but it dont...
you could also have a bad rack n pinion.. i thought mine was the pump and it turned out to be the rack.. it gets real hard spots in it from age and then it just goes bad, it'll also make it real hard to turn and eventually blow the new pump.. just some food for thought..
It's a little dirty to sell a car with a problem and not tell the buyer whats all wrong with it.. What if he don't mind the problems and he wants to fix it up... here in Indiana that would be considered a lemon car.. and you would either have to pay for the repairs or refund his money.. just...
