Head Gasket.... going but not gone.... need advice.

If you give up on the snif tester or conclude that the result is inconclusive because you have a BHG leak that is so small (still prelimiary to a bad leak), do the following: Perform a leak down test or at a minimum, pressurize each cylinder to 80 lbs at TDC for 5 minutes while watching the...

Group Buy? Supra Floor Mats? brand New? Is their an interest.

Does the above still relate to this: Are the links to colors in your earlier post still for the same carpet or is this a new set of offerings? I understand the "Luxury Touring" is now gone. That's OK. Is the weight of the "Grand Touring" now 24oz instead of 28oz? Oh, and shipping is...

Group Buy? Supra Floor Mats? brand New? Is their an interest.

I think that would be great. Also, I think this supplier could expect many more orders in the future. Look at the response you have gotten in 3 days. I am suggesting this might be an on going thing, not to hold up the initial batch though. Thanks again.

Group Buy? Supra Floor Mats? brand New? Is their an interest.

I'm in...would like to see them as close to original Toyota grade as possible. Do you know which grade that would be? Year: 89 Color: Grey (what code? the ones for the grey cloth interior in 89) Grade: OEM grade (whatever that is) Logo: OEM - MKII (will check the color of my worn out...

    clutch help!

If fluid is leaking from the bleed screw threads when it is open and you push the pedal down, it doesn't mater. If fluid is leaking from the threads when it is closed and you let the pedal up or pull it up (and again it MUST be closed BEFORE you let it up), then it is a problem. Likewise if...

    Exaust question

I recently installed the HKS Sport Exhaust on my son's NA and it sounds great! I love it. It has 60mm piping and a stock looking oval muffler with dual outlets for the sleeper look. Plus it has the years of HKS R&D behind it. If you decide to spend a few bucks and get a great sounding top...

How to: Valve Cover gasket replacement (help)

Note: Check that TSRM again. It says 25kg-cm (22 in-lb). That's 22 Inch lbs not Foot lbs like everything else in the book. It's easy to miss that fact and overtighten while your mind is still thinking Foot lbs.

    clutch help!

Do the two man bleeding procedure listed above by Fatality. It is correct. Now, while you are under the car with an assistant pulling the clutch pedal up and then pressing it down again (with the bleed valve closed of course), watch the clutch arm and make sure it is moving. If it is NOT...

What the hell is this crazy thing!?

My 89 TSRM covers it for California cars.

    Na Bhg?

Thanks for the good words supramacist. Not sure this is the thread for it but briefly, my car is a Burgandy 89 Turbo Targa 5-speed which I bought new. It is a cream puff that just turned 100k miles. Mods are minimal, K&N FIPK, 3" exhaust all the way with no cats, shimmed wastegate to 10.5 psi...

    Na Bhg?

I think the general consensus of opinion is 72 to 75 ft lbs with the stock Toyota head bolts. The Toyota TSRM calls for 58 ft lbs which is just too low. I torqued mine to 72. Understand that you must tighten the bolts in the correct sequence when doing this. Here are links to a Retorque writeup...

    Na Bhg?

First, about oil in the intake piping; Although this is not very nice, it is normal. Oil gets sucked in from the PCV pipe connected to the top of the valve covers. Caution: Do not seal this off in an attempt to stop it. You could add a catch can but let's not worry about that right now. Just...

    clutch help!

It sounds to me like you still have air in the system. I hope you understand that you cannot let the master cylinder reach empty at any time during the bleeding process. If you do then air gets back into the system. This can happen very easily since the reservoir for the clutch is very small in...

    Is there...

Something to check: Could be the Alarm has been tripped. It interrupts the starter relay so you can't steal the car. Re-lock and unlock both doors to see if you can reset the Alarm. I've had it happen several times on my 89. It seems the contacts in the doors are kind of troublesome. You can...

    running rich

This is normal when just crusing. ECU is constantly correcting, cycling around STOICH. Light show will sweep back and forth between Lean and Rich. It's called cross-counting.

    Son of a bitc*

I had the same problem a few years ago. Turns out it was the Theft Deterrent System which does interrupt the starter relay circuit when it has been tripped. Note that the car would start if I rolled it down a grade and popped the clutch. If you can do this (I notice you have a 5-speed) you can...

    Emissions – N/A running rich

3P: Today I totally eliminated the cold start injector by disconnecting it's supply line from the fuel rail and plugging the rail with a bolt and crush washer....no effect. Also checked cam timing and it's right on. Thanks for the suggestions. Now then, Anyone: Where I? any other ideas? Is...
