1GZ-FE - My new project motor!

Toyota has been making V8's since 1963 and also has made a V10 and V12. I had been looking for and researching the 1GZ for the last few years. After I finished my 1UZ swap I started looking into getting the V12. Took me over two years to find one for a good price. I eventually got lucky and...

1GZ-FE - My new project motor!

The engine came with all the accessories but I will only be using the alt and the PS pump. I will not need the ac pump or the hydro fan pump. I will how ever need to add a dry sump pump. I am also considering swapping out the belt driven water pump for a remote external electric unit as the...

1GZ-FE - My new project motor!

I have been working on getting the engine cleaned up over the last week or two and its starting to look nice. I have also found a very nice 89 MK3 shell about 5 hours away from me that I will be picking up on 3/24. After talking with some other 1GZ owners and reading posts on lextreme the 1GZ...

    200amp Alternator 1J/2J

I have a 1UZ-FE swap not a JZ but I had my ALT rebuilt and upgraded to over 180 Amps. The only thing that I had to replace was the ALT fuse in the fuse box under the hood. I removed the old one and replaced it with a external 250 Amp ANL fuse as they don't make the stock style in anything over...

Found great deals on suspension upgrade!!

The RSR race springs are 1.4" drop in the front and. 8" in the rear and the spring rate is 671 LBS in front and 335 LBS in the rear. How ever I have the rear shimed up .5" due to the tire size I run.

Anyone going to the Carlisle P&S show this year?

I will be going again this year. There have only been a couple of MK3 supras there the last couple of years. There is all ways at least a fair number of nice cars and cool stuff to see there.

1GZ-FE - My new project motor!

As far as weight I had read some place online that the 1GZ is very close in weight to a 2jz-gte but untill I can get mine on a scale I don't have a true number. However after removeing all the parts that I do not need I would guess I will see at least a 30% reduction. As far as money goes I...

    M70 V12 Supra

Have you had any luck getting the V12 up and running? I am just starting a 1GZ V12 swap most likely into a MK3 supra. I am not "that" far away from you in up state NY and I have been going to Carlisle PA for the show there for like the past 5 years. So the chances of getting pics of 2 MK3 V12...

1GZ-FE - My new project motor!

The 1GZ at the oil pan is almost the same exact length as the 2JZ. I do not have a 1JZ, 2JZ or 7M to measure so that's the best I can do. The 1GZ is 29" from the back of the block to the front of the crank pulley, the 1uz in my current supra is about 25.5" from the back of the block to the...

1GZ-FE - My new project motor!

Dry sump is looking like the way to go. I have been playing with all sorts of ideas as far as moveing the rack or swapping subframes or building some kind of hydraulic or servomotor driven stearing and nothing yet has been without two meny down sides. Where as drysumping the 1GZ looks to be...

1GZ-FE - My new project motor!

The front sump issue is going to be the hardest part. It will probably require a custom built sub frame and maybe a dry sump setup or both. Yes, from the factory Toyota ran the V12 as two straight sixes the same way as BMW did. I will be keeping the stock wasted spark setup for now as it...

1GZ-FE - My new project motor!

Well I finally found the engine I have been searching for and it was close to home and fairly cheep as well. The ultimate Toyota engine, the 1GZ-FE. Its the 5.0L quad cam aluminum block VVTI V12 out of a 2007 Toyota Century. It has a forged crank, 6 bolt mains, VVTI, dual timing chains, 48...

    Finaly pics of the swap

Test fit the new 8MM HTD belt drive for the Whipple on my spare 1UZ V8 last week. I think it turned out nice, all that's left is to figure out where to mount some kind of tensioner pulley and fabricate the mount for it. One of the nice things about Curvilinear belts is I only need like 7 to 10...

    1UZ-FE swap?

I swapped A 1uz-fe into my 87 supra back in September of 07 and have never regretted it. It has been very reliable and actuality gets much better gas mileage then the old 7M-GE ever did. Hear is a link to my thread about my swap...

    Finaly pics of the swap

I finally got around to redoing the interior last summer. I removed every single piece and scrubbed, cleaned prepped and then painted. I used the special high quality interior vinyl prep and black paint (about $150) so it came out nice. New black carpet went in as well. As for the fabric...

    show us your swap

When I had it on the Dyno for tuneing at 5 PSI it put out 260WHP and 270TQ. The peeks were in the 4500 RPM to 5500 RPM range. The stock SC400 cams and headers are holding the engine back and if all gos as planned will be replaced in the next 3 months. HP and TQ both broke 200 at like 1000 RPM...
