The point is I like both of the front ends. I was just seeing if there was something that someone thought that was better or more appealing / functional etc. I'm doing the body and paint so it doesn't matter which one goes on. Just looking to get others feedback, which may help in the...
I bought a 90 JZA 70 front clip to do a 1JZ swap into my ’87 NA. I have the option of keeping the ’87 bumper or putting on the 90 (I will be changing the rear tail lights).
So I thought that it would be interesting to hear others opinions of which bumper set looks better.
Boy do I feel like an idiot.... The subframes are not the same. Steering rack MOUNTS are opposite for RHD. No idea why or how the P/N can be the same from Toyota...? Guess it depends where (in the world)you are ordering from.
Just to close this, I asked Curt at Elmhurst Toyota if he could validate if the subframes are the same. And as always a quick professional response indicated that the '90 MA70 and '90 JZA70 have the same P/N front subframe 51210-14021.
Cheers!
I am doing a 1JZ swap into an '87 NA and was swapping out the rear subframe to take advantage of the stock JZA70 rear end I got with my clip. Things were going quite well until I noticed that the rear bushings were slightly different. So I just cut the rubber bolt / bushing centering molding...
Hi,
I read on a post that you may have used a JZA70 front sub frame for a 1JZ conversion into a MK3. I'm doing one now and would like to know if it works... There are some that say the steering rack mounts are different and there are some that say they are the same. Can you shed any life...
Here's the thread from this forum saying JZ will fit on page 2 mid way http://www.supramania.com/forums/showthread.php?57411-1jz-into-an-87-supra/page2
The reason why I would like to use the JZ subframe (and complete suspension) is that it is in very good condition and due to the lower mileage them the MK3 I could take advantage of the newer control arms, sway bars and struts (which apparently were lowered in the 90 JZ). I keep on hearin that...
No the MK3 is a LHD. I read on some site that the JZA70 subframe worked. Then I read elsewhere it did not, this my confusion. If I also change the rack (I have a rebuilt one for the swap LHD) will the JZ subframe work? It ws my understanding that the rack clips should be the same.
Hi I bought a JZA70 front clip and transplanting the 1JZ into my '87 N/A. I read your post above and ordered stock '90 GTE engine mounts intending to swap front subframes. However I was reading posts and they say that the steering rack mounts for the RHD are not compatible with LHD. Would...
Hi I'm doing a IJZ swap into a '87 MK3. I just read some posts on engine mounts and now i'm a bit confused. Sorry to be a pain in the keister....
My plan is to change the subframe from the JZA70 front clip into the MK3. One engine mount was broken when I pulled the engine out of the...
Hi,
I was wondering of anyone has done valve seals on the subject engine, when it is in the engine compartment? If yes, which valve keeper removal tool and seal remover tools were used?
Thank you.
