87 temp selector control unit. What gives?

Well this sure explains a lot. I thought I had some weird chopped up car. It explains the vin number issues as well. I thought there was something funny about it but I couldn’t put my finger on it. I will be keeping it as stock as I can from here on out. I already replaced the seats since the...

87 temp selector control unit. What gives?

Is it common to find a euro spec supra in the states? This might finally explain some things. How did this car get here?

87 temp selector control unit. What gives?

Oh and check the mirrors out. My 88 has solid mirrors while these will fold in. Not sure if other 87s are like that or not.

87 temp selector control unit. What gives?

I don’t know what the deal is on this thing. First it took me 2 months to get it licensed since the vin kept coming back as not a real vin number. We did a background check and it came back clean. It just has some oddities that other cars done seem to have. I’m not sure what to make of it.

87 temp selector control unit. What gives?

This thing isn’t spliced. It’s a one piece harness. My car also has reflectors under the rear license plate. I have not seen this on other cars. My 88 has a different license plate surround altogether.

87 temp selector control unit. What gives?

My car is an 87 and my parts car is an 88. My car has sliders for the temp and the 88 is digital. The connectors are completely different and there are a different number of wires.

87 temp selector control unit. What gives?

I thought all of these things were interchangeable from 87 -92. Why are my wire connectors different? Why is this car being such a pain in the a**. I ran into the same problem when I replaced the seats and door locks. Different wire connectors. Has anyone else had these issues with an 87?

    just a question.

I'm pretty sure they are all interchangeable from 87 to 92. They might look a tad different on 89 on up but they should plug in the same.

Swapping parts from an 88 to a 87 NA Supra

Yea, I thought they would be the same but they weren’t. My 87 had power lumbar but not power movement. The 88 had both so the plug was different. I was hoping the door switches would not be the same but once I took a real good look at them I noticed the passenger side on my 88 has a bottom while...

Swapping parts from an 88 to a 87 NA Supra

I have an 87 Targa and bought an 88 for parts. I was wanting to switch out the inside locking mechanisms but I noticed that the 88 has an auto lock on it where my 87 does not. Has anyone run into this before? I know when I switched my seats out I had a problem getting the wire harness to match...

I just can't get enough pain....

Parts cars are really the way to go if you have a place to store it. I told my wife the other day that my parts car was my best car purchase I ever made. I got a good rear diff out of it, good door switches, an extra motor with a blown HG, some kick butt exhaust and all bran new brakes. Not to...

I just can't get enough pain....

Sometimes its just dumb luck getting a good car for a reasonable price. I paid a grand for mine and it needed some work. With a $500 parts car added in its now a very good car. I’m sure I will have to deal with some larger issues in the future since the car does have 180,000 miles on it.
