bluemk3: You are right, i personaly like hylomer, never had any issues and should have stated that, its entirely up to the individual to use a sealant or not.
I didn't have any rivet problems they all lined up but i did put some hylomer on mine, you could use the spray on hylomer as well but i chose to use the brush.
You could always make the AWI part of your inlet manifold. Which plants it on the cooler temperate climatic situations and get more horses.

Once you get it started then you should set it to 10 degrees with a timming light.
Also make sure your cylinder one is on TDC

You havn't confirmed what colour smoke is comming out your exaust.
So i'm still assuming its black. Then you can try another knock sensor, my friends SR20
ran pretty rich because his knock sensor was dead, but i havn't had this on a 7m in my
experience. You could do a search on knock...
So it was black smoke comming out of your exausts.
Secondly you stated you had spilled oil down your spark plug wells and this could be the
reason why theres still abit of smoke left. where is the smoke comming from, the engine
bay or the exaust?

where is the coolant leaking from.
If its leaking in to the combustion chamber you will see vapour comming out your exaust.
Another question your car over heated and your mechanic changed the EGR gaskit, How can a leaking EGR gaskit cause a over heat issue? Maybe there's some thing i dont...
First start you should always have radiator cap off...you dont want to presurise the system before the gaskits seal properly for the first time...

regap your plugs..

But what sort of filter are you really ordering standard or aftermarket one that sucks in the hot air from the bay...
