Nevermind, I found a source for a JDM 1JZ starter.
$208 from Champion/Jay Marks Toyota. $30 core refund brings it to $178. Kinda expensive, but I really have no choice. At least its brand-new OEM and not a crappy reman :icon_bigg
Yeah I usually have to turn the key 20-30 times to get the thing to start. Finally, on Saturday I tried for 5 minutes with no luck at all. It does click every time and its getting plenty of juice (tested with a multimeter).
Either the contacts are dead or there is some internal wiring that...
I fabricated my own engine mount adapters to fit my 86.5 subframe. Mine are quite beefy and the extra length of the 7M starter does not fit. I tried for half an hour from various angles until my arm was too tired to hold the damn thing any longer :icon_conf
Well the 7MGTE starter doesn't work (much too big and its not a direct drive starter).
I've been to all the auto parts stores in town and looked through their starters. No luck.
Anyone know where to find a new starter for the 1JZ R154?
It depends on the adjustment of the throttle cable. You may need to adjust the cable a bit now that you have the TPS working properly. It may have become loose or too tight when you were playing with the TPS or over time or something. Just a guess.
I know when I first fired up my 1JZ, I...
I don't see why the TPS wire would be shielded. But interference would be sporadic and change according to RPM and other factors (since the interference would likely come from the ignition). Since yours appears to be steady at or near 100%, its highly unlikely it is due to interference...
I don't see how wiring can cause a signal to change by itself. It stands to reason that there is something wrong with the TPS. Wiring either works or it doesn't; it can't change the signal sent from the TPS unless there are other electronics in the mix or there is interference.
Ouch. If you're the top dog with 5 whole parts...
No offense intended at all. That's 5 more parts than we'd have without you :) But I guess we'll have to stick to 7M/2JZ parts for most things.
I disagree that 1JZ clips are harder to find. There is more demand for them, yes, but the supply is still huge in Japan (from what Venus told me). They can't order them fast enough.
Its really not hard to find parts for. Most parts are either 7M or 2JZ parts that you can order from Toyota or your local Auto Zone or parts store. Its knowing what parts are compatible that is the key. But this site and supraforums.com are a great resource that I have used to make sure I...
