Ahh, of course. It raises the intrinsic harmonic frequency of each section, just like a shorter pendulum string. Thanks.

Engine swap new harness too short

see post #6 in this thread, OP was talking about a related problem with the heater hoses in motors from RHD cars going in LHD chasis. I thought you were referring to that post, sorry for the confusion. I still really think you guys should get the right harness, having just finished working...

    Driveline Vibration

Thank you IJ. I have this too, vibration on highway after clutching, and even more when coasting in neutral, so thanks, I have some things to check. Anyone have info on that question about what the purpose of the 2 piece drive shaft design might have been? Most mods seem to have trade offs...

    MSD ignition wire compatibility question

Sorry not to have a definite answer, I hate leaving my own thread hanging. I set the timing to 15deg BTDC, where it was before, never resolved the AC problem, fussed with some wires to the CPS, cranked with the EFI fuse out, reinserted the fuse, and now it is running great and starting fine, so...

Engine swap new harness too short

??? Just get the right pipe, plumb it right. It's not expensive, its not too time consuming. Why hack up a perfectly good supra?

Engine swap new harness too short

I'm about the least experienced guy on the forum, so take what I say with a grain of salt. i just answer the questions that I'm pretty sure of to take the pressure off the smart guys. I have no idea about your ecu, haven't seen any talk about it, but that doesn't mean anything. You can jumper...

correct way to run an aftermarket bov

If you are not using EGR I don't think it matters.

No Spark, but everything tests good

Try the throttle position sensor on the throttle body. A similar issue came up with my car a few days ago and JJ pointed out that you can't set the timing with a code 51, so that would explain your timing problem. When i was messing with my car at one point I took of the TPS and installed it...

Engine swap new harness too short

Just did this job. Even with a new harness, there is a lot of rewrapping, soldering or crimping (if you have to right tools to do it nice), replacing some wires, etc. This is to make any harness reliable again after 20 years. If you extend the harness it is a lot more work than it looks...

Rear light bulb indicator warning light - gettin' irritated...

If it comes back again, your moisture issue raises another possibility: corroded wiring in the left quarter panel due to water leakage. Water from the hatch or from any openings to the wheel well could also cause this. The water pools in the quarter panels and corrodes the wires. This can cause...

correct way to run an aftermarket bov

Is this a JDM throttle body. Sounds like it. Are you running EGR? You may need a US throttle body if so.

    MSD ignition wire compatibility question

Maybe, but I did check the TPS via ECU input voltages per TSRM and all the inputs were per spec. Also, the AC input IS messed up. It reads around 4 V when the AC is off, and 0v when the AC is turned on, so that may well be the cause of the code 51. Unfortunately, the tire dealer didn't...

    MSD ignition wire compatibility question

Sweet, thanks for jumping in boss. Yes. There was a code 51 only. Not sure why since the voltage tests were normal.

    MSD ignition wire compatibility question

Thanks, I just did that and it definitely was better, but not perfect, misses occasionally at idle. I'm driving it now. I will fuss with it some more to improve the contact. I won't really know unless it fails to start again. I'm still interested in any opinions on whether there would be...

    MSD ignition wire compatibility question

I wonder if I have a problem due to "upgraded" spark plug wires and would appreciate some advice. here's the story: I have a few simple performance mods, new low resistance MSD wires. New copper plugs were selected and gaped per writeup on this site (but I can't find the specs at the...

Wiring Harness of JDM engine too short

For the benefit of anyone else in this situation: You were right. I pulled the old harness. It was easier than soldering, but a bit of a mess. I pulled the throttle body, the 3000 tube, the fuel line to the cold start injector, the ISC valve, the accordian air duct (for the oil pressure...

Wiring Harness of JDM engine too short

Thanks, that's just what I was looking for. I have a parts car to go by, but it is still running and I can't bring myself to slay the beast for a wiring harness.

Wiring Harness of JDM engine too short

Just to double check: the engine is in the car and ready to start. How much will I have to take apart to rewire? I wired it on the stand, and I haven't tried changing a harness on the car. also, what can I expect to pay for a USDM harness? thanks.
