grinding shifting from 1st to 2nd: my driving or tranny?

I should also mention the clutch was replaced around 70,000 give or take (2 owners ago) and the car just rolled over 150k. I do not know if the fluid has ever been changed, I bought the car at 120k and have never changed or checked it because it doesn't appear to leak and I've never had a trans...

grinding shifting from 1st to 2nd: my driving or tranny?

Not much. I just did the clutch mastercylinder about 2-3 months ago and did evething i could to try and match the stock throw. There's no doubt in my mind it's disengaging because there's no jerk or thud when you engage a gear at standstill and no effect when sitting in gear on a hill or such...

grinding shifting from 1st to 2nd: my driving or tranny?

Okay guys, here's the deal. 7m n/a w58 5-speed. I've noticed that when shifting from first to second gear during normal passive driving that it almost feels like the teeth grind 2-3 knubs as you slip into 2nd. Clutch depressed, rpms under 3k, everything normal and it does it. I've noticed...

Stumbled upon this list of mods today...I'm a little skeptical

Well, thanks for the feedback. I actually might try one or two of these. I'll make sure they're reversible first. As for intake, that really seems to be a controversial topic here. I see pics of NAs with AFM adaptors and pod filters and then I hear other people say you pretty much don't even...

Stumbled upon this list of mods today...I'm a little skeptical

http://www.4cefed.com/naperf.html Anybody know if any of these will work and/or mess up your car?

    7M ghetto Ram Air

Yep that pretty much summed it up. Considering I usually cruise around 45-65 and 75% or more of my driving is on city/country roads, I disconnected it. I find myself pulling much more often in 2nd or 3rd than I do in fourth or fifth. However, it's not a mod lost, I basically have a ram air...

    7M ghetto Ram Air

Well, I went ahead and did the project. Took it for a test drive amd honestly it's hard to say if it made a difference. It seemed like 3rd got a little boggier and 4th picked up a little bit of power but it's hard to say. It also seemed to fun a tiny bit hotter but that's not surprising...

    loud fan

Just re-read your post. I would try replacing the fan clutch and belt. It will probably mimic mine in that it will still blow hard for a few minutes after start up, but I think that's normal. If not I should go get another fan clutch. I don't remember where I got this information and it...

    loud fan

I had a bhg about a year ago and prior to fixing it I tried to eliminate any easy possibilities which included doing thr fan clutch. Whoa, first start up and it sounded like a dumptruck just revved up. Been that way ever since. The fan disengages after a minute (still spins but doesn't...

    7M ghetto Ram Air

I like the filter can idea alot actually. I'll have to post pics of mine. If it works, I think you guys are gonna like this...or think I'm a cheap corner cutting kid that shouldn't own a Supra, either way I honestly don't know what to expect. I bought the parts though.

    7M ghetto Ram Air

Title was supposed to read "7M Ghetto Ram Air" but it won't let me edit it. Seriously though, am I the first one to try this or is it so incredibly stupid nobody wants to break it to me? Lol. Well, I'll keep you guys posted then.

    7M ghetto Ram Air

Hey SM, it's been a while. After a much needed tune-up (NGK plugs and Bosche wires), my 7M seems much happier, but I think I can get a little more out of her. Back in the day, I read about routing piping from the airbox inlet to behind the grill. I want to take this idea to another level...

    Plasti-Dip my Supra?

I know. White trim, white rims and a white "Toyota Supra" on the rear right corner. I didn't paint all the trim black, the trim is about 2.5" wide and I only blacked the little raised part about an inch wide. actually looks pretty good with the black rims, windows and blinkers.

    Plasti-Dip my Supra?

Lol I thought about that. But I didn't because I still have the white trimline. :)...until I paint the smaller bump line black. Then it will sort of have a white package.

    Plasti-Dip my Supra?

As for the rims, it's just a style I guess. Mine are metallic black with clearcoat. Not flat black. The stock white paint was chipped and deterriorating so I wanted to repaint them. I mainly did black because they hide brake dust very well. My white rims always looked crappy because I...

    Plasti-Dip my Supra?

Thanks for the input. It was just an idea. Basically, I need a paint job but the car isn't worth it honestly. Too much body work needed, too many miles, too many minor issues and problems. It was just an idea to see if I could make my semi-beater supra look slick. Looks like ill have to wet...

    Plasti-Dip my Supra?

Title says it all. I have an 89 currently white. Front clip is good but from the doors back the clearcoat is orange peeled and quite frankly not that great. The car has tinted blinkers, side markers and tail lights all black (tail lights are more maroon. Didn't want to go too dark without...

I was bored one sunday, then this happened. ( SUBWOOFERS in an MK3) Pics!!

Ahhh yes. I'm the same way. I've gone short periods without music for whatever reason. I get anxious, impatient, aggressive. Next thing you know I'm doing pulls up to the speed limit after turns and passing people before merges. Turn on some chillax music and ahhh, my driving almost...

I was bored one sunday, then this happened. ( SUBWOOFERS in an MK3) Pics!!

One of these days I should post some stuff about my car. Anyways I know the audio fever all too well. My original stereo was very buggy and essentially didn't work, after a few donated items from my older bro I had a four speaker set up on a four channel amp with a basic deck all for around 50...
