The TSRM says to put matchmarks on the flywheel and clutch cover when removing the tranny... I really have no clue as to the workings of the clutch, but why is this necessary?
I pulled mine head, block, and tranny, just followed the TSRM. Removed radiator and fan.
Took me forever, but not difficult really. I can see how doing it a second go around would take about 10% of the effort and time of the first.
Whoops, just realized I had been searching and...
Does it gain anything for you if you have none of those problems? Does helicoiling make them less likely to develop? Is there a large risk of those problems developing without helicoiling?
Thanks for the tip, I'll look out for that.
Also, the engine is actually out now, so that's cool. First car I've worked on besides changing the oil, so it took me for freaking ever, but there hangs the drivetrain in all it's greasy glory. Can't wait to start dumping in the $$ :naughty...
Thanks for the help in the other thread guys, but here is a new one: Ready to pull the engine and transmission together, and the only setting where our hoist will reach is 1,000 lbs. My question is, has anyone else pulled the entire drivetrain with only 1/2 ton of lift? 1 ton simply won't...
Thanks, managed to find the speedo cable and drain plug, and really I don't need the fill now anyway. I realized I don't need the ABS disconnected since I'm pulling motor and tranny together. Thank you for your speedy replies though!
Also, the drain plug appears to me to be a 23mm (bigger...
Ok, pulling my motor and tranny. Finally. Anyway, I've gotten the clutch slave and a small ground that was bolted on with it, and I've gotten the rear tranny mount/brace and a small ground attached to it, gotten the shifter out, but I can't find:
ABS Rear Speed Sensor
Speedometer Cable...
Yeah, so the starter bump method isn't loosening my crank bolt even a tad. I've got a big 'ol wrench on the bolt, resting on the driver side "frame", under where the battery would normally sit. I've bumped the starter 3 or 4 times, even held it down for half a second or a second one time, and...
As I recall, .040 over is pushing it. If you have .040 pistons already, I dunno, but right off the bat if I had to overbore I'd do .020, just in case I needed to again down the line. I don't think .040 gives you that much displacement, like .1 liter as I recall.
Well, aren't similar pipes $450+ normally? I bet IJ could beat that, even with shipping. Well, I don't know how difficult they are to make, but still, IJ seems like a pretty handy dude. He probably makes them in his sleep, or farms them out to the welding gnomes so he can work on the...
Isn't that also why you put those 5 gallon plastic fuel containers on the ground before filling them, and not filling them while in your truck bed, etc.?
Or is it the other way around, I don't recall. But there are signs at my local station about this.
I believe you are supposed to put...
