Well, unless I get word from Justin pretty soon I'll be meeting at your place. Or near there anyway... All I remember is that it's off Gladwin, maybe we meet at MEI around 12:15? Sound good?
I was thinking closer to noon or 1/4 after noon. Justin may want to join us and he's out in Chilliwack, as well as Don for that matter. We usually meet at Castle Fun Park an hour beforehand and cruise in from there. Maybe one of them will chime in and we can all agree on a spot/time.
^ that will be the lower corners on your hatch probably. Mine only leaks when its rained on for several hours, but not sprayed on by a hose(tried that for 45min). Take that interior piece off the hatch and lay down some paper towel (securely) and see where the water collects after a few days...
^ Rob's diagnosis sounds reasonable, wouldn't surprise me at all if that were the case. I just like starting at the simple things, like plugs. But if yours are fine, then I wouldn't worry about it except getting new ones as the ones in the rich cylinders will be fouled.
Try taking a look at...
Call me old fashioned, but I prefer to do things by hand on my car. If I were to race against a clock, different story. 30-45 min is reasonable with air tools. I said 2hrs tops if someone were completely new at doing ball joints and did everything by hand.
A wideband will give you an idea what's happening in your engine. FYI, coppers are best for a boosted engine. Platinums are ok though, did you gap them correctly?
I think that if a car needs a test drive after an alignment, something is wrong. I've done several alignments on both mine and customers cars and never had one turn out bad. I can see a test drive after brake work or A test drive for an alignment is an excuse to take the customers car out for a...
With the lower hatch glass corners, I am going to try some clear automotive silicone and if that doesn't work, I'll be getting a new set from Toyota. I've been really lazy lately, more enjoying the car than fixing the small things on it.
Can't say I've even heard of an Optima 'blowing up'. My red-top recently started corroding on the negative post quite badly and leaking (Could be water though as it's been raining quite a bit lately) from what seems to be the negative post as well. Car still starts and runs perfect though.
The uppers don't normally wear out, ever. Lower ball joints are cake to replace, shouldn't take you more than 2 hours to get both done, providing you have a hoist.
