Fuel filter was like the first thing I did on my Supra and it was easy as fuck, not much harder to get to than the oil filter...but yes you might as well troubleshoot a little more before going to change it.
I put a pipe/hose off the end of the BOV on my old car, routed it to the fender, and then it just sounded like it was in the car lol, echoed up into the passenger door through the fender
Just got my turbo back from Albert the other day and it's fuckin minty. Is Albert able to help him with a new exhaust housing though? If not just find a cheap ass one in the for sale section, possible one with tons of shaft play for $50, after all you would only need the housing.
