No name, besides the Blue car and The Supra! haha. My coolant has been rusty brown since I got her. Flushed it like 10 times and still was rusty brown. Guess thats what happens when a car sits for 7 yrs. I replaced all the rubber hoses during the head swap and hopefully it will stay green...
Just used a gasket scraper. Got it as clean as I could. Head was resurfaced and i'm using a stock toyota gasket. Hopefully I will be fine. I'm not going to be pushing to much boost. I just need it to last a year or so. Then I will do a proper rebuild.
Not really. I took a few when I had it apart. Drove it to work today. It runs really smooth. I really want to see how that 57 Trim turbo feels like. Going to retorque the studs this weekend and then see whats she's got.
I've had a brand new one of these sitting in my garage for a while. Trying to fix my oil leaks before I put it on. Just changed my front main...so it will be going on shortly.
I'm done!!! Woohoo!!! Finished it up today. I'm suprised that it started right up and ran great. I getting to the point where I know this car pretty well. Kinda sad. Always working on it!!
Ok. So first start after i'm done i'll let it run, get warm, set timing and test drive it. That would be 1. Then a few drives to work until I hit about 5-6 cycles. Let it sit over night and retourqe to the ARP studs to 90 ft pounds, like the little paper said. Any other things I should do...
What would count as a heat cycle? My comute to work is about 10 miles. So round trip, is that 2 heat cycles? Just wondering since I'm about to finish my BHG repair.
Finally got some time to work on it this weekend. It looks so daunting when you got everything torn apart. Didn't know where to start! lol
I used a Toyota head gasket with ARP Studs and torqued them down to 85 ft pounds. Going to retourqe to 90 ft pounds after 5 heat cycles. I mounted my...
Sorry to hear about the 87. Would have like to see another Blue Supra on the road. From looking at the pics, it looks like your 87 may be a NA-T or just had a 7MGTE swapped into an NA. It has an N/A Power steering resevoir, W58, Gauge cluster looks like its from an 89+. Just doesn't seem...
I've been daily driving my 280z the last two weeks as I fix my BHG and wait for my new Turbo. Man, it feels a lot slower now. Supra has spoiled me. I need to get moving on my L28ET swap.
Probably one of the two is bad. Its good to replace both or you will be back in the same boat in a couple weeks.
If its low on fluid, it had to leak somewhere. You can always add more fluid and bleed it. See how long that lasts.
There was only coolant/water in cylinder 1. The others were dry. Cylinder 2 does have some deposits in it. Could be dried coolant. Since my coolant has always been brown no matter how many times I flush it.
I did not really see any obvious damage to the gasket itself. I check for BHG...
My car hates me!! haha. So I rescued this car about a year and a half ago from somones garage. It hadn't run in about 7 yrs. Story was that it had the head gasket replaced and then parked because it wasn't running right. So I got it running pretty decently and have been daily driving it...
Here is a link to donload the FSM's for the S30. You can find the 1974 260Z one there. 240's were only from 70-73. 260z were only made one year in 1974. 280z were from 75-78. I bet your VIN number starts with RLS30... If not, its either a 73 240z or a 75 280z. No such thing as a 74 240z...
If its a 74, then its proably a 260z. You need to check out classiczcars.com. Its where you will find out a lot of information if you are trying to keep it original.
Also check out ZCar.com and Hybridz.org for more information.
So whats it doing? No Power at all? Turns over?
SON OF A B$%CH!! I'm pretty sure I have a BHG now! 8-( Not sure if the smoke is still coming from the turbo as well. But my coolant started disappearing and then I checked the Oil cap and I got some milky stuff in there!! OH NO! I knew I was going to have to eventually replace it since I...
