I know I priced the Pearl White at my local paint shop. The Dupont paint/pearl/clear setup and all of the other stuff (reducer etc) came out to almost $700 total. I love the color but the $$$ ain't there for me. Going to go with super white to match my celica I reckon...
clean the cams in varsol to get all the crud off, then you may be able to take a fine emory cloth and polish some of the surface rust off the cam lobes. How do the caps look on the inside? Any scoring?

Also, steer clear of the 95-97 1UZFE if you are going to use stock pistons. The rings aren't carried aftermarket (trust me, I looked and looked and looked) and Toyota wants your first 3 children for a set.

The DM kit seems to be ok, just be wary of shipping. I paid 24.50 to ship an EGR cooler gasket and ARP head studs....I can only imagine what the intercooler kit costs to ship...
being a 27 year old design, the 7MGE and GTE were absolutely game changing motors in their day. Look at what the Camaro, Corvette, 300ZX, and any other comparable car of the time was running...find me a non "super car" from 1987 and chances are, the GTE would run with it. Anything making power...
Most decent glass shops will protect the area they are working in. I would let them install the glass. If something goes wrong, they are on the hook for it.
The problem with this is, you risk damaging the underbelly of the car. The floorpan will be fine, but there are a few little brackets and whatnot for various things. Also, dragging 3000 pounds isn't easy with no wheels...
