Awesome, I really do think the time is now to start discussing this. Especially with the capabilities we have with 3d scanning and printing, repo parts should be on table along side performance parts.
I think we should all decide on a handful of simple parts that we all need, something to get...
Yea, I think we need to try to coordinate with other Toyota owners to create a valid "need" for repo parts for the older cars. A friend of mine just got done restoring a 77 Celica lift back last year, he gobbled up many of the last OEM Toyota parts available for the car. I'm guessing that there...
Hi all,
I'm wondering if anyone has thought about contacting companies that make resto parts for other cars and see if they would play with the idea of making resto parts for the Supra. It would probably take many of us contacting companies to get the ball rolling, to show there is interest...
Yup, I know the capabilities of the MS3. The whole idea behind the AEM was so it would be a PnP system, so I could use the stock ignition system and fuel injectors.
Ok, that is good to know. The UZ and JZ are very similar ECU wise, just about all the I/Os are on the same pins. Thats why I'm using the AEM for the 2JZ-GTE, its been modified for the UZ though "the 6 inverting transistors were removed and two were bypassed for coil outputs 1 and 2" There is a...
Hi all,
I'm working on my AEM V1, I managed to get the fuel injectors to fire, but I cant get anything out of the ignition system. I have attached the cal file for review.
Here are some notes:
The 1UZ has a 0-5v rising edge ignition signal
Two coil outputs Pin B56 and B57, they...
When I was helping a friend out doing his 2JZ swap we had the engine brackets in the wrong spot on the block. Cant remember but we may have had them on the wrong side too.
The crank bolt gave me some issues, I went out and bought an air impact gun because my electric one just couldn't budge the crank bolt. That failed too, the thing is I had that apart before I swapped the engine in and I torqued it to spec, so I didn't see any reason why it wouldn't break it...
I started to notice last year the car was running hot on the highway, 210-215 degrees... This past weekend in a cool 70 degree day the temp went up to 215 again. The only thing I havent replaced is the water pump, but I have a suspicion its not the issue. To be sure I ordered a new water pump...
So I got the car aligned and made a trip down to my friends in Virginia, the car made it there and back once. On the second return trip I heard a POP and the car lost most of its power, I pulled over at a rest stop and couldnt determine the problem. The engine felt and sounded like it was...
Continuing work on the car I have finished the power steering install, and I’m ready to get the alignment. While I had it apart I decided to do some rewiring.
I eliminated my plug and play harness in favor of a direct connection to the body harness. I noticed the body harness had a rather...
The power steering project continues! I found an LS400 reservoir at the local junk yard, then welded the -6 AN bung to the front. I debated on cutting off the factory barb, mainly because I was unsure if I could fill the hole in. I ended up cutting it down and welding it closed, the whole...
Thanks! It hasn't changed much on the outside, other than getting a new spoiler. I will be posting plenty of good photos when its back out and the weather improves!
Another update, I got the old manual rack out and installed the power rack!!! I also got the high pressure line in and realized...
