I, too, bought out the local dealer's stock of drain plug washers, and I torque them down to the TSRM's 25 ft-lbs. I had leaks every time I tried to re-use a washer or use a crappy autozone copper crush washer, no problems now and I'm out all of $4.

Agreed, even with the transmission rear mount unbolted and pulled down, there is barely enough room to stick a hand up in there.

Look at the canon powershot line, specifically the older ones like the sd600. It's still a great camera with plenty of features and you can find them new with memory cards and accessories for about $200. You get what you pay for

depending on how long it will be before you buy a new system, consider just taking out the stick of 256. it sounds like whatever performance gain you may get from having it in is offset by it ruining your stability
