thanks Ij. I was under the impression that detonation would begin to burrow a hole in the top of the piston. But i guess it's such a violent action that it could damage any part of the piston.
I know it's been forever and a day since I've made a post or new thread. I recently had a little time to investigate my first rebuilt engine after it lost compression on cylinders 1 & 3. There was approximately 3K miles on it. Here are the culprits:

Here is an update:
Just finished the second coat of resin to smooth the surface out. just need to wait for it to cure so i can sand the divits out and then spray it with clear. Then it's on to wrapping the rest of the wheel with suede.
Now it has been clearcoated and needing a buff...
It's been a long time since i've posted any progress of my cars but i got a stroke of inspiration last night. This is a work in progress. Soon i'll be adding black suede to the rest of the wheel. What's next is to sand it down a bit and add another layer of resin...then sand...then spray with...
Thank you, JDub. All looks right but still runs like crap. I will keep looking it over and see if i missed a vac. hose somewhere. So much to remember on this car.
I also hate to hijack this thread but when i look through the oil filler port the nose of the cam lobe is behind the shelf, unlike the drawing in the TSRM. Any ideas?
