So the new car is a 1989 white package turbo. It does however have an automatic transmission. I will hopefully be taking the transmission and some other key parts from my 87 and upgrading the '89. I will also have to sand down about 5 dime sized rust spots that are starting to surface on the...
so after thinking long and hard about fixing up the supra, I came to the conclusion that it will cost WAY too much! Therefore I am going to drive it till it dies. In the mean time I am purchasing a 1989 Toyota Supra that is in much better condition minus a blown headgasket.
So now that the snow here is almost gone, it's time to pull the supra out from hiding, and start looking at restoring. I first need to find a decent welder (if anyone has tips as what to buy please do so) and then get some sheet metal and start repairing the rust holes that are present in the...
So I have the option to continue fixing my car (it needs a tonne of work). I am debating on replacing the blown shocks with coilovers, or replacing the busted leaky hatch with a new carbon fiber one. I could also get a new exhaust (mine has a hole the size of a tennis ball and a Glass Pack...
lol, next time, I am driving my Celica GT-S right now so I don't completely break down on the side of the road somewhere. I am letting the INDEPENDENT SPEED SHOP do the work. But hopefully if I talk real nice to her she will only break down in the summer.
as I just moved and can only really work on the side of the street, I am going to let the shop do this one, and yes I will be using toyota parts. They were just ordered, and I thought they would be a lot more money than they were. All in all it came to like $75 cdn for both parts.
I have major rust that the previous owner tried to hide on me that and blown suspension, boost leak, the only good to my car is the engine was rebuilt and hg was torqued properly. Too bad I am going with the 2JZ-GTE within the year.
