Original Explosive Material - Tobes' Build Thread

After countless problems I finished the car last night and it started right up today after the no EFI cranking! Well, it took some time for fuel to fill the rail of course. And no codes shown when I was checking the timing. Hooray for no electric woes. Still feels like an old car, but hopefully...

I missed this one! The shop tried another type of insert and this time 5 of 7 held torque. I only had 4 of 7 holding torque before and things were good for many years, so I decided to start putting things back together. I will have to use the Driftmotion kit when I pull the engine next year...

Full DM IC Kit or TB Intake Pipe

Why a BOV? I thought Supras needed a bypass valve since the MAF has already accounted for air that has entered the system.

Project Git 'er done!: Stages 1 through5- ***14 YEARS....Approaching the finish line!!!***

That is great you were able to figure out the cause. When I had random cases of my car not starting it was always the CPS signal not coming through cleanly. Hopefully the new pump sets things right.

Thanks! I was worried going OEM might have been a mistake. The OEM (bottom) is very sticky compared to the Ishino Stone (top), and it has some green stuff on it I assume is extra sealant. Otherwise they are very similar.

I have noticed a lot of recommendations for FelPro head gaskets. Are they better than Toyota OEM?

Fire extinguisher looks like it belongs there! Does it get in the way of the jack storage? Thanks for the details on the fuel sender. Mine occasionally stopped working for a minute or two, but I suspect I might have some ground issues somewhere. That is a great license plate! Reminds me of...

I am worried the holes are too big now, but I will ask the shop what they think. Time for a true Project Hail Mary!

Well, even time-serts didn't fix the exhaust side. 4 of 7 pulled out before reaching 29. Looks like it might be part out time.

One 12-point 14mm socket later the head is back on and torqued in three passes. I don't know how you guys do these jobs in a day, this took me hours. But all that thread chasing sure made the studs easy to put in. Now I just have to put all the really fiddly bits back on :D

Sadly I don't have a 12 point 14mm deep socket, so no reinstall for me. But I did follow the TSRM for the head reassembly. Seems odd to put the intake on since the head is heavy enough without it, but it is not like I could get the head in position on my own. The rubber on the injectors was...

Cleaned up the head today and finally installed the EGR cooler gasket and bolts I bought in 2013. I foolishly thought I could change that with the head in the car. However, I did manage to change that water union and banjo pipe with the head in the car in 2013. It really thought it was never...

Is that 75 with using their lube? I have the undercut head studs because I heard they are better with a composite gasket (mine is Ishino Stone, looks like an OEM). The instructions say 90, but so many threads say 80. What is the best thing to do?

What did you do to your supra today? Pics

I guess the radiator was a little dirtier than I thought :) No clogs or leaks though. Shame it is not easy to replace this on an auto car with the Mishimoto Bru recommended.

    TODC female terminals?

Hi, I am trying to buy a few TODC female terminals to fix some wires on my harness. I haven't found anything at the usual spots, like Ballenger. According to another forum, the Toyota part number of 82998-12090 already has wire attached, so I don't want to go that route. (Plus they are almost...
