Anyone ever burn out a stock ecu on a 89-92 7mgte? Symptoms? Thanks!

So with all the things I have done to the car in the past month, everything has changed. Yesterday when I took the car out I turned the safc down on the High throttle map and it runs tits. So I guessing there were many contributing factors, but the safc and plugs took the cake. I tried turning...

Anyone ever burn out a stock ecu on a 89-92 7mgte? Symptoms? Thanks!

Funny you mention that. I rewired the coil packs and put new plugs in it today in a desperate attempt to get it going before I bring it in to a local tuner shop and it was running a little better, I turned the safc down a ton and it ran even better. Still at 12.5 at 5lbs boost and still at 43...

Anyone ever burn out a stock ecu on a 89-92 7mgte? Symptoms? Thanks!

I wish it was that easy, I've tried that many times. I'm running lexus airflow meter housing with stock sensor (bad sensor?), 550's, fuelab afpr, fuel damper bypass, wal 255 with hotwire, 3" intercooler with 3" al hardpipe, ct26 turbo that I just put in so I know is solid, just did intake man...

Anyone ever burn out a stock ecu on a 89-92 7mgte? Symptoms? Thanks!

I know boost leak would be rich but nice to know that everything is sealed up I guess, narrow things down. I have the fuel pressure set at 43 right now. precision turbo and engine told me to run their 550's at that. What is an average or stable afr under boost or wot?

Idle afr is new news to me but yea, I know how the afc works and all my connections are silver solder with shrink tubing.. ---------- Post added at 03:20 AM ---------- Previous post was at 03:19 AM ---------- I kinda thought it should be around there.

Anyone ever burn out a stock ecu on a 89-92 7mgte? Symptoms? Thanks!

yea, it was running okay, then I pulled it hard to 120 mph and it started spudderin. afr went from 12.1 at boost to 12.5 on the aem wideband. I checked the intercooler circuit for leaks but everything was tight. I never go around to making a boost leak test though. I wanna do that this week...

nope still got the egr, I have heard mixed thoughts on removing it, what are your opinions on it? ---------- Post added at 06:26 PM ---------- Previous post was at 06:23 PM ---------- Don't waist your time then. Nobody ever seems to reply to my threads unless I put some crazy shit it anyway...

Anyone ever burn out a stock ecu on a 89-92 7mgte? Symptoms? Thanks!

Well hopefully it's maxed out, because my patients is fried with the car, and wallet not to mention haha comes with the territory I guess. What are some good plug and play ecu's or stand alone ecu's that people are using?

So you're saying I can push that ecu to the max for a consistent rate and it will perform well? That's hard to believe. I'm not saying completely shut down, I'm saying lost all performing integrity lol ---------- Post added at 11:26 PM ---------- Previous post was at 11:24 PM ---------- But if...

Anyone ever burn out a stock ecu on a 89-92 7mgte? Symptoms? Thanks!

Pretty sure I cooked my ecu one day on a hard rip. I have a stock ecu with 550's, lafm, APEX safc that was pretty cranked, walbro 255, fuelab afpr, 3" intrclr and hard piping. I have an aem wdbnd too. Running lean when throttle above about 10-20%. All symptom experiences are appreciated. Thanks!

255 walbro installed and check engine came on...

Yea, I have an AEM wideband that reads around 16 idle and 12.5 at about 25% throttle and it goes lean and bogs out around 10 vacuum on the boost gauge. Base fuel pressure is 43.5 lbs which is what my precision 550's call for. I even called the tech there. I'm going to pull the intake manifolds...

Will an 89 7mgte fit into an 88 mk3 turbo?

Hahaha I know! ---------- Post added at 11:07 PM ---------- Previous post was at 11:04 PM ---------- He said he wants one that will just drop in, I started laughing and told the guy but he doesn't understand I guess. I'm also wondering if he knows how to drive lol

Yea, I put a fuelab AFPR in and put in a fuel feed damper bypass in too so the J tube is no longed in use. But My car is still running lean as hell lol I'm about to just junk it after 3k in upgrades lol I'm going to pull the intake manifolds off, turbo manifold off and pull the head off to check...
