18 + 8 might hang a little bit outside the gaurd if you have stock suspension (will have plenty of room with some camber if it were lowered). I would go for a 235/40.

Thank you spiller. Here is my test fit of HRE 18x10 +19 at the rear. I kinda like it that way, any suggestions? Tire is 275/40/zr18 (I'll change it to 35 very soon.)

i'm running 10 +22 in my rear with a 275/35 and a rolled lip and it's near perfectly flush. Will be going to a 265 for better fitment soon.

IMO after reading 190 pages of this thread (thank you all for this useful thread.) 10 width and +25 is probably the best offset for the rear.

Sounds great dude, but IMO keep the 275!

...over here the police are HOT on wheels that hang outside the gaurd unfortunately

Why is that? Rocks being thrown a problem there, or are they just bored?

I figure its something like that - potential for debris being flung at pedestrians, other cars etc but seriously, has anyone ever seen that happen? Boredom may be something to do with it too. the po po here actually have a "special task force" named "operation diagonal" that targets what they call "hoon" drivers. they impound your car if you are caught misbehaving and will crush the car if you repeat offend. I dont "hoon" around in my car on the road but unfortunately the dickheads that do ruin it for everyone else, making japanese cars quite a target.

anyway not to go too far OT, but it really sucks because prime offsets are ESSENTIAL!

^ No problem. I'm on 17x9.5's, 15mm offset, no roll, 245/45-17 and lowered pretty deep. No rubbing issues, unless I'm carrying 50+ lbs. extra in the back. I would drop the front size down though to a 235, or even a 225, to match the flush tire/rim look you will have with the 265's.

Well my wheels came in today, figured I might as well share with you guys. The rear does need a 10mm spacer and I need to go a bit lower, but you get the idea.
XXR 522 18X9.5 +38 BFG KDW-2 245/40R18 both front and rear.

I know what hoons are, we have them here too, but we just call them dumbasses. ;)

And in all honesty, I've never actually been hit by flying road debris, but I have had rocks tossed from other cars/trucks end up in the back of my car, especially when the targa is off. Actually caught a rock in the cheek once, fresh off a semi truck's tire at 75mph in an old Miata I had a few years back... talk about a 'wtf?' moment...

OMG dude they look awesome. remind me of the R35 GT-R wheels, classy looking and the black suits the red well

That's what I'm thinking these look like... they look good! Shame they only offer a 9" in a 17 though.

lol at the dumbasses comment, if the newspapers/politicians were able to swear maybe that's what they'd label them too. Those wheels are sensational, if they did a 10 with a tapered centre I'd consider getting a set!

Question: How much negative camber would I need to get the wheels not to poke (without pulling the fenders) with 17x10 +25 and 17x9 +15? It's basically the same width and offset as BorHor's old blue Supra, as can be seen through the links on the first page of this thread.

Or would pulling the fenders get me buy enough to not have to camber in the wheel too much?

im running 18x10 +22 up the back and 9 +15 up the front. I can't remember off the top of my head how much camber I have on the rear but I have only 1 & 1/4 deg on the front and this is how it sits with a 245/40.

p1575233_1.jpg

Bascially there is no way you will get away with those offsels without rolling the fenders. ultimately i'd like another degree of camber on the front but my wheel alignner was unable to get anymore than that (he suspencs a bent cross member but I beg to differ).

Spiller, do you have any better pictures of the front and rear? I already know I'll need to roll my fenders. I figure I'll have to pull them slightly as well because I don't really want to have too much camber. I want as much contact patch as I can get.

do you want more "contact patch" for tyre life reasons? Because in regards to handling, extra camber can be beneficial for cornering as you end up with more contact patch as the loading on the outside wheel of the corner increases. It really bugs me that I only have 1/14 neg camber on mine for this reasons, and the wheels rub a little because of this as well. Consequently im going down to a 235/40.

they are probably the only useful ones in regard to wheel fitment although not optimum. car is parked in the garage atm and cbf moving it out :p
