Haha, sorry guys been rather busy with the new 1j car.. My old 7m set up was, fully built motor, Billet 67 turbo, 550cc, safc II, other supporting mods. I made 471hp at 19psi. And that was with a really bad exhaust leak before the turbo. Neither the turbo or manifold was divided. If I remember correctly I was hitting full boost between 3800-4000rpms. The top end power on the 67 was amazing and the spool time never bothered me a bit, even for street driving. The tubular manifold allowed the car to rev out a little higher so it worked out pretty good. The T70 turbo on my 1jz has a .81 hot side, to laggy for the 1j in my opinion. Doesn't hit full boost (20psi) till around 5200 or so :(.. I'm most likely going to go with the 6262 or the 6265 for the 1j when I get the money for it. Hope that helps guys, any other questions feel free to ask!

When did you start seeing positive manifold pressure? Or when did the butt dyno start to really pull? What rpms? Any cams? What was the a/r of the 67?

I have the 1J thats close to being completed and will be going with the Precision 6262 with 62mm divided turbine housing in a .84 a/r size with qsv and undivided manifold. I read on the SP forum and they were talking about the difference between 6262 and 6265. This is what they said...

"Real world difference is small. 6262 CEA is rated at 680HP and the 6265 CEA is rated at 700HP. The main difference and reason for offering both despite such a small performance gap is to cater to all applications which is why I recommend the 6265 for the 2JZ and the 6262 for the 1JZ or 7M. Displacement or RPM make the difference for which turbine wheel should be selected. Both turbine housings have the 3" outlet, we usually make 4" downpipes with a 3"-4" flare."

I hope this helps everyone.

I would think the 6265 would be better for the 7m. Its 3l like the 2jz... And precision says its rated for 695. Close enough but ya.

You prolly wont really see a difference and the 6262 will spool faster. IF its not enough power or top end change the housing or switch to the 6765.

The reason they said the 6265 for the 2jz is because even though its the same 3L as the 7m, the 2jz flows a good amount better than the 7m does. There for it will spool the 6265 quicker.

Stock cams, the AR of the 67mm was a .68 positive manifold pressure by 3000ish. butt dyno started pulling hard around 3500rpms

Thanks very much. I didn't think the 7m would of seen positive by 3k. That's very interesting, I know which turbo I'll be going with.

I would get the 67mm billet again if i were to do another 7m build, def an awesome turbo. I may even do the 67mm with the QSV on the 1j... we'll just have to see.

I know two people running these turbos on built 7m's...one is a 6265 put down 536whp on 16.5psi 93 pump gas lol! another being a 6765 putting down 650whp on 25psi, these turbos are good up to around 35psi! another guy running a 6265 on a 2jz mk4 put down 730whp on 35 psi e85! these turbos are the best on the market imho...6265 put 730whp on 35 imagine a 6765 on 35 psi lol these are on the 1.00 a/r btw and no QSV

not a supra but my lil 4cyl del sol has a 6262 with a .82a/r and it put down almost 570whp on 22psi with 110 octane

digging this thread back up as the stock turbos on my 1JZ have become a bit smokey so weighing up my options. Ive always liked what I hear about PTs. My car is track orientated and looking for around 600rwhp with head room. Id prefer something that pulls all the way to the redline but dont want it to be SUPER laggy. The 6262 looks like a good option with the anti surge housing and V band outlet. .82 rear would surely be the best way to go? Can anyone offer any personal experiences and where is the best place to buy from?

Spiller, I went with a Comp ct4-6265 .70, similar in nature to the PT's. I'm not especially worried about choking the engine, but I'll only be revving to around 7500 I think. If you're going with the 6262, the .82 rear is what I would be going with personally. Are you going with the ball bearing?

Hopefully some more experienced members will chime in for you. :)

Pte has a .84 divided housing as well. That's what I went with. Spool is fast. Would be even faster with a qsv as well.

Yeah would look to either .82 v-band or .84 divided I think. I like the idea of the v-band in/out though and definitely ball bearing, no question. What do the quick spool valves do? Are there any disadvantages to their use?

What about the 6265 on a 1JZ? Surely much more headroom with this turbo (much more similar in size to a GT35R).
