My *sort of* build thread. (PIC WHORE)

Nice work on the head :) If you haven't ordered bearings for the bottom end yet I'd highly, highly advise you to measure the actual crank journal and rod/main hole diameters instead of going by the numbers stamped on the parts. Mine were nowhere close to the stamped numbers at all.

^Already been measured... Ya it was just out for a rebuild less than 10k miles ago so who knows what the previous person "polished" off the crank etc. Most of the numbers matched but some did not.

Im still having a really difficult time deciding what head gasket i want to go with. I would like to do a MHG, but if that is the case, i would have to have the block deck machined, have the head machined, and buy a MHG. If i were to go with stock, i wouldn't have to worry about doing any of that, i already have a head gasket i can use, and all i would have to do to finish this whole project is have the cylinders bored/honed. I really only want to go for a max of 300rwhp in the long run, but i want it to be reliable, and i don't want the head gasket to be limiting me on what i can do with the car.
Not to mention one of the biggest problems is finding a shop that can actually get the surface finish down smooth enough for a MHG.

Well its been a long time since i have updated. I have since gotten a job and now have an income, so this is going to be a full rebuild with forged pistons, stock lower end, and MHG. The engine is at the shop right now ready to be machined, but i have gone from wanting cast pistons to forged, so as soon as i send him my pistons the work will all start. This is a day i have been waiting for for a long time! (Thank you DriftMotion for your great service and fast shipping!):

Save those!!! Get a couple more and use them as legs, and a sheet of diamond plate steel! an hour with a welder and you could have a gangsta coffee table!!

All that and no -8an oil pump hose. :(

Build looks to be going pretty good so far.

After some research i found that the upgraded oil pump lines including the arz line is overkill and i dont really need it. If there was proof anywhere that the oiling system flows more than the stock pipe can handle i might be convinced.
Anyway thanks for the comments, heres some more pics.

Cy....I have a spare heat shield for the manifold if you want to use both....I also have the turbo heat shield...you have to remove the turbo to install the other shield. If you want them let me know.
