Specs: 93 Sc300 with stock 1jz and 5spd w58.
Centerforce Stage 2 Clutch
Walbro 255
I havent done any mods since the swap was completed in may 07
It is my daily driver
Goal: 350-375 or the closest I can get to w/o breaking the tranny

im stuck now. Ive been reading up on the whole upgrading trims of the ct26 and everything.. And of course on the other side of the coin is the near complete xs power kit.

Option 1: I can pick up a ct26 for 100 bucks and of course the manifold for what 300? but then I would have to send that turbo out to get upgraded.... 510 by driftmotion Or be bold and do it myself

Option 2: XS Power kit

Option 3: Twins, boost controller, methanol kit, injectors

Prime factor: $$$$$$$$ ima poor college kid with a part time job

I want about 380whp and seeing as how the driftmotion kit is bargain priced IMO, I'm going to go that route with a 57 trim upgrade.. I've been told countless times you can squeeze 400whp out with the proper technique.

IMO, screw the ct26. Its not a very good option.

Build your own kit. Buy a xspower t3 manifold for like 250, a new garret t3 57 or 60 trim turbo for like 550, external wastegate (tial 38mm for 200) and a oil line kit for 150. You will need a custom DP though... as well as intercooler pipes.

I just thought he wanted to spend next to nothing that's why I recommended the CT.

I vote for ditching the CT as well. You will have to do a bit of customization but it will leave you open to more options.

depending on his budget he can get a decent setup for nearly the same price as the ct kit. I havn't looked to see everythnig that the ct kit comes with but honestly, I think the pricing would be similar (considering he doesn't have ANY ct components now, no DP, elbow, turbo etc). plus have the benefits of a tubular manifold, external wastegate etc

The ct sounds like a good deal at face valule but i was calculating costs... For the money that I will spend on the ct kit a few more hundred and I can get the XS kit. All id have to get is IC piping and my DP redone

But Im definately going single when I come back from my road trip to atlanta in december.

In the meantime...what can I do to my present set up now? Boost controller? Im gonna run my brother in his mustang when im there. i dont wanna lose to n hear it for the rest of the vacation lol

As I was researching, I have the same findings.. Looks like I'm just gonna go for the same turbonetics stg5t04e that my friend has on his RB25.

i don't agree with tissmo

ct26 is the way to go... easy to install, easy to run, uses all the old 7m downpipe parts ect.

meth/injectors/n02 with the stock twins = a recipe for breaking the car

twins will give in far before the ct26 and the ct26 are a dime a dozen.

If you are really having financial difficulties, stay stock twins as long as you can and save money.

Going single without money is a rough deal.

+1 too often i have seen folks try to go cheap and end up having to redo their setup. Save your money, do it right 1 time.

Expect to pay at least $1800 for a completed single swap, and that's on the cheap
Word.

You will need a minimum 550cc Injectors, at least one walbro, manifold, downpipe, intercooler, clutch, wastegate, IC piping, BOV, boost controller, the turbo and I'm sure I'm leaving something out. I will be happy if I can keep my single turbo swap under 2500.

Lets see....
ebay manifold - $200
ebay T70 turbo - $350
ebay oil lines - $60
ebay intercooler - $130
ebay intercooler pipes - $100
ebay wastegate - $75
ebay downpipe - $160
Aristo 440 injectors - $100
Used electronic boost controller - $175
Greddy BCC - $50
Apexi AFC - $200

total = $1600

That's buying all the cheapest stuff. Now change all that to name brand stuff and you'll see how much you will need to spend.

btw: I did have all that on a 2jz, worked like a champ. No problems so far with 3000 miles on it and 20+ dyno runs. Dynoed 460whp at 18 psi, so it should easily get you where you need to be on the 1J.

Thats not bad at all.... I think ill just save and go single the right way. 460whp thats niceeee

At what power range does the w58 give out? It has almost 150k on it im assuming unless it was replaced before
