i emailed them about it, then got a response saying to email a specific employee in which i did and i never got a reply from him. either they dont like making money or cant do it or are just really really bad with customer relations. took me 30min to get the guy on the phone to actually look in the catalog for the smaller turbine housings for the gt40. he swore they didnt even make an 0.81 even though quikstrike refered me to them as thats where he bought his. i had to repeatedly insist. then made sure i got the part number of the one i wanted so that when im ready to order i can just give the part number and be done with it.

oic, garrett does not produce a .81 a/r with a gt40, it comes with a .85 a/r
and precision can make u the .81 upon request, but wow that sucks how u were treated like that.

I was looking into the SP71GTQ, but all this talk has got me leanin towards a GT40... This is going to be the toughest decision of my build... As I do not want a spike monster, I want a nice pull...Larry at SP told me the SP71GTQ would hit full spool by 4500rpm with a 63AR... I dunno, is that good? When would I hit full spool with a GT40R?

jt2ma71 (forgot his name) had a gt4088 with the .81a/r and he had full (21psi) boost at 4300rpms and made 561rwhp at that level.

Wow Will...

So the GT40 only has a 47mm inducer? What?

no, the gt4082 has a 58mm inducer and 82mm exducer. the 4088 has a 64.7mm inducer and 88mm exducer the gt4067 has a 67mm inducer, but im not sure on the exducer. im guessing ~92mm. anyhow. if i upgrade my turbo, i want the wheel wit hthe 67mm inducer, but ant find anyspecs on that size wheel from garrett. the smallest gt42 has a 70mm inducer. and wether garrett makes the 0.81 and 0.68 turbines for the gt40 or if they are genuine garrett (i think they are garrett) doesnt matter, the point is the parts exsist and it took too much persueding on my part to get them to look it up. their customer service isnt very good imho, though they seem to be one of the few dealers that sell the new gt series turbo's. i guess ill check wit hthe local deisel turbo shop and see what they will charge to upgrade the turbo. as it is i want to polish the compressor cover, but im afraid if i start sanding it myself ill get tired and fed up and nto finish and end up with an ugly ass compressor. anyone have a vibrating polisher that can polish my compressor cover for cheap, or know somewhere near tampa that can?

also, if i can find the flanges i need for the oil drain on the block and turbo, and the fiting for the oil feed on the block and turbo, then id mount the manifold and turbo on one of my spare engines as a mockup to measure for the oil lines. what size return line is everyone running? 10an? also, where can i get the flange for the oil feed with 4an, and the flanges wit hthe an fittings for the oil drain and the fitting that threads into the block and is 4an for oil feed for the turbo? i need all 4 of those. and also, 2 more t 4 gaskets.

William: Yep certain I measured mine.

As I said a 3540R is a very different beast ;)!

Direct comparison GT3540R to a CT26.

35 ..comp wheel 2.41/3.22 CT26 ...comp wheel 1.75/2.50

So I guess I'll be looking at the GT4067 then...

I didnt see a GT4067 on that link... And none of those GT40's claim to make 700+hp... Was I reading wrong? I dont want a GT42, the size the site says will make 800hp, because the 42 just seems WAY to big for my application...

Any advice?

4067 is a hybrid so probably won't be listed anywhere Jake.

There's a thread discussing them on SF and one of the shops just announced they have stock.

The 3540R is listed as a 700hp turbo but doesn't have the overhead you require.

Justin, my turbo made over 500 with only 23.5psi, that's pretty efficient... It was a 60-1 with a 70AR cold and hot side...

the gt4082 is rated for up to 650hp, though as most people have already stated, they usually make more then what is stated. so the gt4088 should make much more then 700rwhp as well as the gt4067 hybrid that horsepowerfreaks sells. thats the site i was told was selling that particular hybrid.
