actually i have read the flow chart. i see the turbo can flow enough for 680 horse power but the exhaust housings that u can get with it are limited to an
a/r .68 or a 1.06 according to the guy i spoke to at precision and i was thinking about using one in the .70s, so a .68 may not give me enough at the top and a 1.06 may not give me enough at the bottom

My GT4082 has an .81 a/r.

IJ: a 1.06 hot Side A/R is retardly huge good luck spoolin that thing ever. How high you plan on spinning that thing. I have a .84 A/R and it doesn't hit max spool till 4500RPM, so sounds more like you will be in the 5500 RPM range crazy.

Omg Thats Freakin Huge I Still Cant Belive It Spools That Quickly

right now its got a 0.95 a/r turbine housing on it. havent bought the 0.68 a/r housing from precision turbo yet. thats prolly next. should spool hella fast. qwikstrike said his started spooling at 2200rpm and made full boost by 3800rpm with a 0.81 a/r turbine, so mine should be quicker then that. just ordered the manifold, wastegate and new valve guides for my head thats being ported. been working lots of ot trying to get this thing done before x-mas.

William: Agreed I'm blown away that my 3540R goes into positive boost as low as 2000 rpm even with the 1.06 ar housing!
(even with it untuned running like a pig)

I was a bit skeptical of all of the GT series hype but it looks like Garrett delivered!

Guys,
I'm about to purchase a GT series next week but am unsure of which model to go for.

I dont want any lag and i'm not going for anything over 400rwhp.

GT3540?

GT3582?

GT35R?

What do you reckon?

Thanks!!

PS I work for Honeywell so i'm getting the turbo 1/3 of retail price.:icon_bigg

I was looking into the SP71GTQ, but all this talk has got me leanin towards a GT40... This is going to be the toughest decision of my build... As I do not want a spike monster, I want a nice pull...Larry at SP told me the SP71GTQ would hit full spool by 4500rpm with a 63AR... I dunno, is that good? When would I hit full spool with a GT40R?

well a gt42r is about 5900 rpm full spool and i think ians gt35r is about 35-3700 rpm full spool so i would say 45-5000 rpm i think gt40r would be the one to go for on your build jake as it's bb normal 40 isn't hence price dif as it will spool a little quicker ;) sure ian would agree with me

The guys on SF were talking about a hybrid GT4067R that sounds really promising for our motors could be worth a look for the Jake Project!

I'd pay the little extra and get a BB unit though as I feel it's benefits far outweigh the price difference!
