Looks like you're having fun with oil and power steering lines too :) Build looks awesome! Seems you suffer from the same distraction issues I do, although for me it's motorcycles instead of snowmobiles...

Yep also installed the ps cooler from the 91 turbo. Is it better then my old one, Im not sure, but it has cooling fins and is larger dia tubing used also so it should be. Plus it looks better. Snowmobile is just there to have fun and something to do when board in the winter, or sick of wrenching on the sup. It is a great stress reliever too. I have spent lets then $100 on parts for it. Most of the cost was when the recoil exploded on me.

Now thats a proper distraction. None of those inefficient pitiful excuses for vehicles we call snowmobiles.

:blah:

Well so far this morning I got quite a few things wrapped up, finally. I was up early. Just couldn't sleep any longer. Let see what we finished this morning.

oiling system has a Done stamp on it........for now. Maybe a accumulator will come later on in life.

Was able to use 1 factory bolt hole, that is why miss-matched bolt.

Once the lines were done I filled it with some redline. It took the entire qt.

Also, made a new bracket for the dip stick. Im not a fan of using a zip-tie to hold it in place.

Also installed the 90 degree elbow for the vac line from the turbo to the boost controller, and finished that up.

.

Don't seem like much, but took a wile to do everything, planing, cutting, fabricating, ect.

That's it for now. Lunch time and need to help out the neighbor out move his TV around.

I forgot to add in the lengths and hose ends used.

Adapter to oil filter---45 degree - 30" long - 90 degree
Filter to oil thermostat -- 150 degree - 7 1/4" long - 90 degree
thermo to oil cooler -- 90 degree - 5 1/4" long - 90 degree ( It should be 1/4-3/8" longer)
oil cooler to thermo -- 90 degree - 15 3/4" long - 90 degree ( it should be 1/4 -3/8" shorter)
therrmo to adapter -- 90 degree - 31" long - 45 degree (could be 1/4-1/2" longer)

Of the 15' -8an hose I only used about 7 1/2 feet of it. I have plenty of extra.

Total cost of remote oiling system was 530.71 (with shipping cost inc.)

Then another 80.37 for the AFPR fittings and hose

Right on. Before I fire up the motor again I will prime the system plenty. I will pull the plugs, and spin the motor for 30 sec. Then repeat 4 times (if not more) to make sure everything is full of oil and lubed. Then check the oil level once again.

On a side note, any one know of the largest wix filter I can use with this remote oil filter or off of what vehicle? The OEM size oil filter for the 7m looks a little small now. It is the standard 3/4 stud for the center and IIRC the face is 3 3/4" wide.

go to wally world and start measuring, wont find wix... but you can crossrefrence. i would say look at a ford fla-1 as the dimensions sound close and that filter is almost a qt

FL1A is a Motorcraft part number if you were looking to cross reference...

Here is the WIX part number of the Motocraft FL1A: 51515. I do believe it does hold about 1 quart.
WIX Part Number: 51773 is supposedly a 2-quart version of the 51515 oil filter. Both have the same threads as a 7M oil filter (WIX part number 51348).

It looks like the gasket dimensions aren't quite the same, however they are probably close enough. It does looks like the 51515 and the 51348 oil filters from WIX filter slightly smaller particles than the 51773. 2-Quarts is probably way over-kill as well.

Here is a comparison of the filter specifications:

WIX Part Number: 51515 (Motorcraft FL1A)
Height: 5.178
Outer Diameter: 3.660
Thread Size: 3/4-16
By-Pass Valve Setting-PSI: 8-11
Anti-Drain Back Valve: Yes
Burst Pressure-PSI: 290
Max Flow Rate: 7-9 GPM
Nominal Micron Rating: 21
Gasket Dimensions:
O.D. I.D. Thk.
2.834 2.462 0.200

WIX Part Number: 51773 (2-Quart Filter)
Height: 6.982
Outer Diameter Top: 3.663
Thread Size: 3/4-16
By-Pass Valve Setting-PSI: 8-11
Anti-Drain Back Valve: Yes
Burst Pressure-PSI: 290
Max Flow Rate: 7-9 GPM
Nominal Micron Rating: 32
Gasket Dimensions:
O.D. I.D. Thk.
2.834 2.462 0.200

WIX Part Number: 51348 (7M Oil Filter)
Height: 3.404
Outer Diameter Top: 2.921
Thread Size: 3/4-16
By-Pass Valve Setting-PSI: 8-11
Anti-Drain Back Valve: Yes
Burst Pressure-PSI: 275
Max Flow Rate: 7-9 GPM
Nominal Micron Rating: 21
Gasket Dimensions:

Thanks for the info guys! It was exactly what I was looking for!!:thumbup: I also think 2 qt oil filter might be a little over kill.

I think the WIX Part Number: 51515 (Motorcraft FL1A) filter sounds / looks like it will be perfect for what Im looking for. I have about 5 1/2" - 5 3/4" I can use for clearance on the height. So 5 1/8" should fit great. I just want to be able to reinstall the splash shield. That part # should be pretty easy to memories

With that filter holding about 1/2 qt more, my system is going to hold close to 8 qts. of oil now. That should be enough oil for the wimpy 7m.

Today I finished up installing the AFPR and removed the "J" tube and installed the BBC fuel block off plate. But I just ran out of vac. tubing to hook it up. So another thing to put on the parts list.

Rob, Looking good. I like the position of the FPR. I may have to see if mine will fit on the fire wall as well.
I also need to get my oil filter relocation complete. Do you think that having better oil cooling really does much for engine temps.?

Thank you. I chose to install it on the fire wall to keep the fuel line as far away from the alt. that I can. Don't want to a car-becue.

Cooler oil should help out with keeping the temps down. Now as for how much Im not sure. Having cooler oil should take away some heat with what ever metal it comes in contact with.

I know it will help keep my oil temps in check. Driving around last summer (obviously before the oil cooler upgrade) "normal" my oil was around 210-220. On my 1 high speed pass, (150 ish) the oil temp jumped up to 260 degrees, in a hurry!!

where are you taking your oil temp readings from?

From an internal oil passage in the engine block. Just under the turbo, right above where the oil drains back into the block from the turbo. Using a prosport gauge for the readings

Let me find a pic.

EDIT, I swear I took a photo of it but I can't find it. It has to be on my other laptop that crashed 3 weeks ago :( Here Is another pic I took and just circled it in red where I put the probe.

Sorry if you've already had to answer this; but, where did you get your seat leather from?

Thats ok I know the thread is getting pretty long. Feel free to any questions you guys have.

I will have to look back in my thread. IIRC the username was leather seats or something like that. And there not really covers it is new leather. I wish I would have took pic of the process. But I was on a mission that day to get them finished up. Click me for the link where I picked them up from. You just have to let them know what color you want them in.

The best part is they fit GREAT, just like OEM!!!

Well I got the new size oil filter I want to run. Yup, it should work just fine, that is as long as it clears the one oil line right next to the oil filter. I will check that out tater on this morning.

Like always need to have some pics of the beast. On the right is the WIX 51515 on the right is OEM size for the 7M!!!!!! You think its large enough?

You are going to want to pre-fill that filter before firing up the engine after any oil change, Rob. But it should have great filter capacity!
Me likey.

^Ditto! A filter that size will take a few seconds to fill. And that's a few seconds you're without oil pressure.

I have to do that on my PowerStroke.
