i never put a resistor in the afm harness. is that needed? lol

base pressure 35psi. yeah afc w/ vpc. i think wiring is correct. afc deff. makes changes and car runs/drives w/o mass air so vpc must be ok. i think ur right about cams being issue. afr bounces at idle along with the cam lope.

only 550s. i have greddy 720s but vpc really didnt like those. i havent degreed cams. set to stock. i was just looking into that. have any suggestions? most people are saying +3ex/-1in for 264s. car idles at a rich 1000ish rpm. sounds like a built small block.

somebody else said that also. but i got 272s and .040 over which i think is attributing to my problems. got a good rough tune last night. it cruises around 11.5-12.5 afr. hit the gas it leans out to 14.0. turbo spools (laggy) and it falls to 10.0. last night was first time i ran it past 4500rpm...

thanks. it seems to be running way fat at idle and cruising or when letting off throttle. i turned idle knob all the way lean. goes lean under heavy throttle high rpm. i guess just takes a lot of time to dial in. not a lot of dynos around here can tune with vpc.

hey now. does anyone have any vpc tuning info for 7m? i know its old technology but i have one and thought i would use it with afc neo. cant really afford aem right now. any help appreciated thanks.

head was removed. iwas turning valve itself. couldnt figure out what was going on. machine guy told me about the stem length theory

i was able to twist the valve without depressing the spring. just put my thumb on it and twist. how were u using os valves with stock springs. isnt there a valve float issue? if a stock head fixes the problem (not holding my breath) i will probably use ferrea springs/retainers with stock...

lol thats exactly wat i thought when he told me that. but when i put the head back on with the manley valves, it ran fine so i shut up. and now im screwed again. think im just gonna suck it up and try the bone stock head.....why does this car hate me so?? :3d_frown:

machinist said since the stem was so short, and with the 272s, the top of the valve stem was getting wedged between locks and retainers causing a couple valves to hang open. never heard of it before but i trusted him and the manley valves (supposedly with a longer stem) fixed everything- for 50...

sorry ij, dont know that one. this shop has done plenty of work on imports/supras before so i just trusted them and their work. it does sound like a valve problem to you guys? these manley valves were supposed to fix the problem- the ferrea supposedly had too short of a stem, causing the last issue.

so no one else has ran into anything like this??

dual ferrea. along with locks, titanium retainers, and seat locators. bronze valve guides. still have this valvtrain with the current manley valves.

back with more problems......surprise. got a built head- professionally ported/benched, os ferrea valvetrain, crower 272. i had put about 50 miles on and all sorts of problems. mainly a cylinder was completely dead ("0" on the gauge). brought head into machine shop and he said it was the valves...

no joke! im still tryin to get the driver side floor board clean. i love my rps 3200. not nearly as stiff as i thought. very "touchy" though. i also have a 6 puck sprung disk. very streetable combo in my opinion. wat were u guys sayin about bypassing a clutch switch? never heard of that...

when my alt. went bad it was overcharging the battery. then the battery went bad and it was doin about wat ur describing. go to advance and they should be able to check ur alternator while its till on the car, or take it off and have it tested
