I had the same staring issue with the OEM starter. Had an electrician pull it down and replace the brushes. Lasted a week. Turns out the starter solenoid was not getting sufficient amps to engage. I ended up running a fused relay to the starter from the starter positive terminal.
No issues in...
Having just just lost all power steering and done the following;
Flushed fluid, cleaned reservoir, changed pump only to find that one of the wires for the progressive power steering solenoid was not actually attached, I would check the connector first.
Then check that power is actually getting...
If we are still on wheel and tyre sizes, has anyone run Kumho KU39's 255/40/18 on 18x9.5 rims? (ET 34) Front and rear.
My car is on the lowest notch on Bilstein shocks with stock (ish) springs.
I have been told that the side walls are quite square and do not want to roll my guards to clear them...
Hi and welcome!
Congratulations on your first Supra.
There are quite a few low cost options for making extra hp from N/a 7mgte engines. The forum has lot's to choose from.
As a general rule, however, power equals cubic $'s. ( that's a square stack of $'s not just a single pile)
To get the most...
Hi DrDucttape.
I had a similar issue with my 89. It turned out to be the thermistor in the air box behind the the glove box. Two wires run to a thermistor that is inside the air box. Try attaching a resistor across the wires, or better yet get a electrician to do it. Apparently it is a common...
Hi Seth
You may not have received my earlier mail regarding the alternator brackets I am chasing. I know you are also very busy.
I would like to purshae one of your alternator / power steering bracket sets.
Can you send me a price?

Try the suction union o ring at the top of the p/s pump. It's the hose that runs directly under the reservoir. $2 O ring. 1 hr of swearing as you take off all the inlet piping to get to it. Replaced all of crush washers until I tracked the leak down.
Welcome 88supraboost.
Looks like you picked up something with a bit of potential. Pics are always nice!
You're right about this being the place to learn about getting the best out of your engine.
Enjoy!
Howdy Jacob.
Nice car.
Looks like you've done some good work.
I've heard there are some awesome roads in Tas. My brother thrashed a rental Audi through there a couple of weeks ago.
Welcome to SM.
Hi all. Although I'm not up to posting a rebuild thread I thought it was time to update on the Supra. I managed to finally get through rego inspection (many thanks Tony). The car still looks like it did when I picked it up, however the suspension bushes have been changed, as have the ball...
Cheers sharpsupra. I have actually pulled the entire PDF before. This is the one I have been working from. I am missing a connection from the A/c amplifier to the magnetic relay, however, my problem is that the power going to the amplifier is only 12 volts when the switch is off. When I turn the...
indeed you are correct sharpsupra! the relay block number 4 shows a 10 amp. will change that over. i have found many not quite right issues from the previous owner.
Any thoughts on the A/C switch returning zero volts when turned on?
Hi drod 23
do you have the electronic gauge?
I had a similar issue with my 89 GT. you need to make sure the sender unit puts out the right resistance.
drop he sender into some hot water and measure the change.
Hi all
I am working through the non working bits on an 89 7MGTE MA70 GT. The car has had an engine replaced and some of the wiring never seemed to find the right home.
The A/C does not work when the dash button is on even though the light is on.
I have had the A/C gassed and can activate the...
