    Rear sub-frame and diff questions.

I don't always know the correct numbers and terms. Well in about 4 to 5 years when the car is complete I'll find out the limits! I'm going to try and keep the tires as the weak link. 255 to 275ish wide. Something that will brake loose and make lots of smoke. Primary roll as a road trip...

    Rear sub-frame and diff questions.

Yes the subframe will be massively reinforced to support the extra weight and torque. The diff will be rebuilt as well to be on the safe side. I think it's a 3.53 right now but I might try and get something closer to 3. I'm shooting for 500hp, 1000ft.lbs though might push it to 1200

    Rear sub-frame and diff questions.

Major reason I want to use it, is because I have a complete subframe laying around. Anyone can bolt in a 12 bolt with discs, or buy a ford 9" kit for the 56. Mostly I need the challenge, I put a 12valve cummins in my ford and that turned out to be pretty easy.

    WIX oil filters

I'm so used to my diesel that I was horrified at the post of installing a dry filter then starting the engine. Then I remembered they are horizontally mounted. I use fleetguard(oem) on my cummins, and oem on my nissan. Used to use puralator and wix on my toyotas

    Rear sub-frame and diff questions.

That is correct along with a turbodiesel v8. New suspension up front, though I have to fit the dmax before I decide what. Disc brakes all around. The track width stock on the mkIII is within a single milimeter of the stock chevy diff. Lots of room to fit wide wheels in there

    "right stuff" gasket maker?

I like coating most gaskets in high-tach spray a gasket. Black rtv is good in combination with a gasket for the oilpan. Only real way to eliminate oil pan leaks is to have a much thicker flange that is true

    Question about torque wrench use.

the hand book for my 3/8" Snap-On click type says that the torque loss with straight extension or wobbly up to 15degrees is not worth calculating. I totally agree with being consistant, but there are times when that is not always possible. When torquing my exhaust manifolds on the 7.3L...

    Rear sub-frame and diff questions.

Unfortuantly I had to choose between my supra and my grandpa's car. My grandpa's car won. This is a project of a huge scale, at least it seems that way in the planning phases. I have a 1956 Chevy Bel-Air convertable that I'm converting to a LBZ duramax (350hp, 650ft.lbs) and will be using the...

    1jz coils on a 7m, here's the wiring diagram

Normally I would agree with you, though this is a 7m we're talking about here. I mean if you do one little thing wrong to the engine it sucks your wallet dry.

    1jz coils on a 7m, here's the wiring diagram

Does the increased voltage to the coils risk having them overheat and fail?

    Strange noise from top end.

The more I think about it and listen to it I think it's the wrist pin. I had a good mechanic friend of mine listen to it today too. He figures wrist pin. I'm wondering if mabye where the wristpin sits is rounding out or something... Doesn't matter much, just means I don't get to keep the car...

    Strange noise from top end.

Well after driving Christine for the weekend the noise has become more prominent and noticeable. It is now there underpower past 4k rpm. The engine is now using and leaking oil. Though It still produces the power. Unfortuantly the noise is getting loud enough to suggest to me to stop...

    Arp heads studs

IIRC the cam shafts have to come out, though I'm probibly not the best person to answer this. Though I'm the type of person to wait to assemble the motor until you have all of the parts ready... If ARP fucked up you should contact them and ask them to quickly remidy it. Though myself I've had...

    SupraFest Results!

I decided not to come this year because I didn't have a supra, but now that I have my supra back I might make it next year. Though being a mkiii and can forsee an engine problem preventing such a journey.
