Wiring woes

My Supra is an 87 turbo 5speed conversion that was done some time before i purchased it, everything works great except for my reverse lights, cruise, and ABS, i've searched for pics and info related to which wires go where and all i've found has confused me. looking at my tranny i only see one set of wires on the driver side rear that are cut off almost at the transmission. If anyone has pics of the wires at the transmission and which ones do what i'd appreciate the help. I live in NY and i have to have the reverse lights and abs to pass inspection

The sensor on the rear of the transmission, on the left (drivers side in US), is the speed sensor. Which accounts for the lack of cruse and ABS.

The reverse switch is on the other side (right side) about in the middle of the trans.

The wires from both of these need to be wired to the engine harness, which since the trans swap has extra connectors hanging under the intake manifold, near the bellhousing.
That should be enough information to help decipher the threads on how to wire it up.

wow. seems like we had almost the same situation. but my car was R154 5 speed from factory i believe. yes just find the color wires that come from the transmission on the harness & connect those, THE COLORS ARE RED & YELLOW... Solder them to longer wires & apply heat shrink. Don't know about cruise since i don't use it & my ABS light is always on as i drive.... yesterday on a simple stopping point i braked & i guess it activated (it was rainy) & all i heard was screeching & when i came to a stop i could smell burnt rubber.. AHHHH :biglaugh: lol. & i bet if there were passengers they'd shit their pants cause it happened on a bridge, the ones over the freeway. Excuse my language but it was exhilarating but yet one of those WHAT IFS situations. :naughty:

Thanks! i know which ones go where, the only issue i have is the sensor on the driver rear, ABS and cruise sensor i guess, has about half a MM of wire, i haven't had a chance to look closely yet, but can i pull it out without draining the transmission to repair the wires?
I've done that too Gota, new set of brakes and rotors, aparently the PO had plans for this car cause they're bigger than stock and slotted, and we just got some freezing rain the other day. It was fun to say the least. Also the genius that had the car last wired the reverse lights to a toggle switch on the console therby screwing the factory wiring on that. I'll be able to rig it up properly, but is it to much to ask for people not to drill holes in cars that i want to buy :D

Update, here's some pics of the tranny, not sure i'm looking in the right spot for the cruise/ ABS electronics is this it?: IMG_3241..jpgalso i have a mechanical Speedo so that's not an issue, here's a look at what i have to work with for the reverse light switch IMG_4130..jpg since a replacement is only 31 i'm probably gonna go that route , one more quick question since i suck with electrical diagrams, these are the plugs left over from the conversionIMG_0144..jpg, which one should i wire the neutral safety, revese lights, and abs wireing into? all help is greatly appreciated as i'm close to getting this Supra back in sound working order.

First pic are you talking about the rusted plug or the freeze plug type plug? The lower one is what makes the shifter bouch back to nuetral. The upper part next to the threaded hole almost looks like it but hard to tell from the pic. Abs will be right next to the mount if thats where that is. Since some cars didnt have abs not all trannys have abs. Iirc the output shafts are different so would need different trans.
If your state just visually looks for abs then pull the cluster and remove the light for abs.

You can figure out what wires go where from here.

I can tell you that the 4pin sqaure plug is for the abs. The 2 pins with no connector look like they should go to the reverse lights.

Thanks all for the help getting this back in order the first pic looks like where the abs/cruise harness "should" be, drivers side just above the tranny mount, not sure what to do about that but I'm assuming since r154's can have the sensor I can find one either at the junk yard or classifieds I already have the new reverse light switch in and workin thankfully pulling the abs light wasn't even needed as the light doesn't kick on till you drive they passed the car as is :)

As I'm a gluton for electrical punishment I decided to rewire the push button start to a different location and move the hazard switch too, the start was originally in the 4th slot next to the steering column where the cruise switch is, relocated it to the center console where the ghetto rigged reverse lights were. I then moved the hazard switch to the 4th slot and everything seems to work great with one exception... When I flip the hazard switch my stereo shuts off 0_o. The turn signals work great so I'm not sure what the hell I did but I thought you might find that interesting.

Hells yeah, i'm a bit of a pic whore when it comes to my cars, so just about anything i do will be photo documented, i'm not ready to start a build thread yet though cause i'm just trying to get it back into like new condition first, with a few modifications of course :naughty: Here's the reconfigured switches:IMG_5282..jpg, the toggle that was for the reverse lights and is now wired to where my amp is going in:IMG_6687..jpg, here's the new start button:IMG_6506..jpg, and my interior overall at this point,IMG_1059..jpg IMG_9707..jpg i still have to repair the dash on the glove box and just above it too, i just finished the shift boot( left incomplete by the PO, i used a $10 kit from MrGasket to build a support ring and a $10 shift boot from pilot i think it looks pretty good) I've also converted all the backlight bulbs in the cluster to 194 blue LED's but i don't have a good enough camera at the moment to take a pic of that my good camera's screen is busted so i'm stuck with my iPhone's camera instead, Also note that my shifter is extremely tall for our cars, this leads me to believe it was originally from something else any ideas what that may have been? i had to cut it down and use a .44 Mag shifter knob to make it comfortable to use

also while i'm on the subject of wiring, anyone know of any good dual electric fan conversions that i can try to get rid of the power hogging clutch fan?
