Hi!
This is my first post here. I'm coming from nissan world and I've done rb20 and rb25 swaps before.
And through hard times I've learned that nissan ecu's like to receive speedsignal from the gearbox. To have gear maps activated. If you don't do that you will only run idle maps and have terrible fuel cuts in the upper rpm.
I have a A31 Nissan car here, that is my drifter. Due to scarcity of tuning facilities here I'm thinking to take out my rb25 which I have lots of goodies for it and sell it apart to fund a 1jz/2jz swap.
So my question is:
1)Is it necessary to wire the speedsignal from the gearbox to the ecu ?
2)Is it accomplished by wiring the signal from the gearbox to the speedometer cluster and then from there to the ecu speed signal pin ?
3)Why toyota ecus have speed 1 and speed 2 pins ?
4)I've heard that no speed signal to the ecu will affect the performance somehow. Some say its rev cut at 5k rpm at certain gear or something else ? Maybe no VVTi ?
5)Is there any differences between 1jz/2jz vvti or non-vvti regarding that matter ?
6)Will W58 speedsignal work with 1jz/2jz vvti or non-vvti ecus ?

Appreciate any reply!
