I just bought this car recently and it doesn't start. I'm trying to hook everything up and then go from there.
p497132_1.jpg

Where do these wires go? There coming off the fuel pump and going no where.
p497132_2.jpg

Where does this vacuum line go? Is it in the right place?
p497132_3.jpg

This vacuum line is coming off the intake manifold nipple. Where does it go to?
p497132_4.jpg

Where does the vacuum line that goes on that white piece go to?
p497132_5.jpg

There are two long vacuum lines that come from there and go nowhere. What are they for and where do they go?
p497132_6.jpg

The yellow line here is cut. Where does it go? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Also if there is anyone in the St. Petersburg area that can help let me know.

1st pic: No where, they are not stock. Someone might have been using them to feed power to the fuel pump for some reason.

2nd pic: IIRC is soppost to go to the bypass valve.

3rd pic: if you have circled what I think that you are circling, then its the vaccum feed for the cruise control, but I can really tell to much from the pic.

4th pic: Have no idea, doesn't look factory

5th pic: they look to be charcoal canister lines

6th pic: that line goes to the purge valve on the charcoal canister

Nothing of which that has been shown here should keep the car from running with the exception of the 1st pic and that something is wrong in the FP circuit and they were hot wiring the FP to get it to come on.

It's always fun trying to figure out what a previous owner was thinking. From the looks of it, you will have wiring issues for a while. That rats nest at the CPS scares me.

Follow suprahooked's link

Also, In pic 4.........You have a black and yellow ground wire just above the heater control valve. It doesn't appear to be connected. Kinda looks like it goes toward laying on top of a valve cover. It's gonna have to be connected to one of the bolts in the lift hook to crank.

I'm missing the upper ic piping and air filter also. Could those be reasons why it won't start? Also do i need the charcoal canister? if not then what do i hook up the vacuum hoses to that go to it?
You said that those lines in the 5th pic look like they go to the charcoal canister, does it make since that there coming out of the firewall? and in pic 4, its just a vacuum line that comes from that thing on the firewall and has a tee in it, where should that thing connect to(sorry i dont know what its called).

1. Air filter no but no upper ic pipes yes that could be the reason it wont start if the engine turns over.
2. The charcoal canster is for emissions I seen people with out them but its up to you if you want it or not.(imo I would use it)
3. Take the hose off of the bvsv and cap the hose that is running from the firewall.
4. Yes its ok because those lines come from the fuel tank and the lines run under the driver side across the firewall to the canister.
5. The thing on the firewall is a heater valve and you should have a hard plastic hose that runs across the firewall. From pic 3 you should have a small amount of vacuum hose that connects to a three way spliter that will split the vacumm hoses(one from the intake manifold, one from the hard plastic hose that runs across the firewall that comes from the heater valve, and one that goes to the boost sensor and some other vacumm hoses).

Hope this helps.

The car should start without the upper IC pipe. It won't drive cause of the lack of AFM signal, but it should start.

Give me a call if and when you get a chance, it would probably be easier to explain stuff over the phone and if you want, I dont have a problem taking a ride out there to give you a hand.

It is possible that some of the T'd off vacuum lines running into the firewall are from an aftermarket boost gauge that might have been removed. Or, it could be that the charcoal cannister was bypassed. Some of the loose vacuum lines should go to the fittings on either side of the AFM bracket

Here's a pretty clear pic of my engine bay before a couple changes, and a total of the car. It shows the upper hose coming off of the BVSV (2 pronged sensor at the thermo housing) going to the AFM bracket below my BOV. Then another hose runs from the AFM bracket to the charcoal cannister. The lower hose on the BVSV goes to the little nipple that points down on the chrome pipe in front of the 3000 pipe. The little nipple coming straight off of that chrome pipe goes to youe BOV. Your stock BOV location is blocked off, so the car must have had an aftermarket BOV like mine. I blocked off my stock one like that after this picture was taken. You can also see where I put a T-Like connector to extend a hose through the firewall for a boost gauge.
