Wiring experts/wiring problem

Im swapping over the engine harness/ecu out of my 88 turbo into my 89 turbo. I have everything hooked up except for these 2 plugs. What do they go to?


This is picture 1 of the connector on the 88 engine harness.

This is the same connector off of the 88 Engine harness
wire colors are (from left to right) Yellow(with red band) ,Black, Red

this picture is the connector off the 89 Dash
wire colors are (from left to right) white/green stripe, white/red stripe, red, yellow, black

Im guessing that the black, Yellow (with red band) and red will connect together sense they are the same color. But the other wires(the 2 white wires) are different than the 88 engine harness. thanks again

So you're trying to put an 89+ engine harness into an 88 ECU?

I think that looks like the A/C shorting pin. It is normally plugged into the A/C system as shown below.

no, im putting a 88 ECU with wiring harness into an 89

Why would you put a Pre 89 Engine into a 89+ Car? :nuts:

Those two connecters your seeing are hanging doing nothing on my car too, but my swap was an 89+ Engine into a Pre 89 Car. Everything works and runs fine without them... Lol...

Those two connecters your seeing are hanging doing nothing on my car too, but my swap was an 89+ Engine into a Pre 89 Car. Everything works and runs fine without them... Lol...

because it was FREE! lol:icon_bigg

there were some 89 cars that had the yellow plugs and some had gray plugs that could fit the 89+ ecus but could plug in to the yellow connectors from the pre 89's

my 88 engine harness is yellow connectors the one that came out of the 89 had gray.


I got the car put back together completely tonight... i went to turn it over and nothing. I heard a tick tick tick from the rear or the car... i'll start looking for the probelm tomorrow. any ideas? im guessing its a wire not connected.

I found another plug that has no where to go.

Its by the ignitor whats it go to?

wire colors are black, blue/yellow, white/wblack,blue

Yes, I have tested everything thuroughly, everything works.
