Windows explorer question

Im running windows explorer on a fairly new Dell laptop and I cant get the pictures that appear on the net to not be all pixleated and distorted.

The colors are all wrong and such.

Now videos and pictures that I open up in the pc look fine, but all the pics on the net are jacked up.

HELP!

How do I change this?

On a serious note, what type of internet connection are you using? Are you using any internet accelerators?

Internet accelerators cut down on the quality of pics in order to speed up the connection.

microsofts internet explorer is prone to bugs.

get firefox.

getfirefox.com

try that, and even if theres another problem, use that instead of ie.

and windows explorer is what most people think windows is, its different than internet explorer.

i agree with dirgle, ive seen that before.. but if its new. id also update all the drivers, especially the vid driver.. just a thought.. and see what version of IE its using??

And I agree with dirgle too, but how do I turn off the "boost" feature so that it loads the pics without being all choppy?

is there an icon running in the lower right side of the screen for the accelerator, click or right click on it if its there, maybe a setting in there?? last one i saw had several quality settings?

try looking in the control panel/add remove proggies, and see if there is an accellerator installed. or control+alt+del and see if you can find it and shut it down. or it could be a setting in your verizon wireless connection? has it always done it, or did it just start..?? just tossing ideas..

the more the page loads the better the pic will look, otherwise you'll just sit there for a minute or two without the text waiting for the pic to load either way you are boned

If your on Verizon Wirless it probably isn't a compression problem as Verizon doesn’t use compression(yet).

You say it's a Dell? My friend had a dell Inspiron 8500. It had an incorrect DPI setting from the factory. You could check this.

Right-click on an open area of the desktop and click on Properties.
After the Display windows appears click on the Settings tab.
Then click on the Advanced button.
Now click on the General tab.
Check and see what the DPI is set to. Most likely it's "120". This needs to be changed to "96"
After setting it to 96 DPI, the computer needs to be restarted for the changes to apply.

After the computer restarts see if you still have the same problem. Like I said my friend had this happen on his laptop. Maybe it's the same for other Dell's

then tell who ever it belongs to, that its for the best, beleive me,
our ITs here at ICT were still using I.E. and i got pretty pissed at them, well now they use firefox. :biglaugh:

The dpi is set on 96.

Its not a cpu problem, as I can watch movies in crystal clear quality. Its a compression issue with the internet. Ive gone over and over and over and over the tools > internet options > advanced tab looking for a graphics file compression turned on, but no luck.

HELP ITS DRIVING ME NUTS!
