Win one and lose one, plus a WTF?

From the top, I pulled the normal crap and tried to take out the oil sensor with a claw wrench, I had a long extension, but I couldn't unturn it for the life of me... So, I still have no oil pressure..:icon_evil

But, while there, I did change out the CPS o-ring, and that was a win, it was leaking bad. One would have thought the F-ing mechanic would have changed that when he had the freaking CPS unit OUT OF THE CAR! The o-ring was flattened and hard as a rock, it broke when I tried to take it off, and fortunately had the replacement in hand. The plastic cover and gasket are a mess and cracked up, but still ok until I can secure a replacement. A little bit of oil inside the CPS, but not a flood or anything, so for now, it's good.

After reassembly and start up, I noticed a lot of dripping water from somewhere under the water pump, but not out of the little hole on top. Not a gusher, but a steady drip. Then, after the motor warmed up, the dripping stopped! :aigo: What the heck? Will a water pump leak when cold, and not when warmed up??

Anyways, I hate that f-ing mechanics shop, everything they touched is screwed up, for example, every wiring plug locker was broken after their work! EVERY freaking one! They destroyed the wire tube across the top of the engine and just made a loop with electrical tape every few inches, and so on... I mean they are a-holes! Then they say they didn't do it, and there is no way I can prove it.. Jerks,....

Anyways, what do ya'll think about the water drip situation?

Hmm, most of the time when I see a leaking water pump it will get worse when the pump starts rotating. I guess it's possible for it to work the opposite way, but I've never seen that in person. BTW, there's a top and bottom vent hole on OEM pumps, not sure on aftermarket ones. Has your water pump ever been changed? Might be time for some wrenching, then!

On the oil pressure sensor- I had to destroy a combo wrench by cutting it, heating, bending, and welding onto it to get a reliable tool. If you have a new sender in hand you can ro-sham-bo it until the case falls off, but you'll have to be careful...

Could just be just a leaky hose or gasket. Get a flashlight or some dye and a black light.

Ya, I did have a wrench 14 mm claw (?) I think that's what it's called. It's like an open face with a square hole to insert the rachet extension. I just couldn't get enough muscle to it, even though I bumped it up to a 1/2 inch rachet. That sucka is tight! I guess when I tear into it again to try to find the water leak, I'll take another whack at it...

It is possible for the water pump gasket to leak at certain temps and not others. Not very likely but possible.

Happened to me last year. It wouldn't leak a drop cold or once fully warmed up but had a steady drip (one drop every second or so) in between temps.

I suppose if I go to the trouble of changing the gasket, I ought to just put a new pump on anyways... Maybe I'll have a better angle at that stupid oil sender from there....
