Wideband

I have an opportunity to buy a wideband gauge for 25 bucks. But that's all I'd get. He's telling me to hook it up to the stock o2. Is that possible or would I need a wideband sensor?

You will need a wideband O2 sensor. Narrow band and wide band sensors don't have the same voltage readout.

If it is an AEM gauge, you can get the sensor for 70-85 bucks. Add that up and it is cheaper than getting it new. This is assuming the gauge works and you are getting the wiring harness' too.

yes I get the harness too, but it's autometer. Bad deal?

If he is telling you to hook it up to the stock O2 sensor it is probably a narrowband gauge which is a miniature step above useless.
