why walbro?

Get an MK4 pump if you don't want the noise. To me, my walbro isn't that loud. I can hear it outside the car better than I can hear it inside.

+1, my (2) in-tank walbros aren't that loud at all.

I have a Walbro, haven't installed it.

I think the reason is that it's an easy install in the A7 chassis. The Mk4 pump is even easier, and is a better pump, but is more expensive. I got the Walbro, because at the time I got it, it seemed to be the tried and true solution. Not sure if I'll ever install it, or if I'll just get a Mk4 Denso pump.

They probably are just china made knockoffs of a stock MKIV pump, because a company with 2 employees probably isn't making their own pumps. Maybe they aren't junk, but your guess is as good as mine.

I think the reason people use Walbro is because they're been around forever and never had any quality problems worth mentioning.
