Not sure about a turbo, but on my NA, the Knock Sensor was disconnected (I couldn't find the plug until I removed the alternator) for quite sometime, the engine light would come on once I started moving, but the engine still ran.
no i dont have a turbo.didn't check any codes (no tool) it a MX83 stock just did head gasket. I disconnected the afm and it ran but died when i step on the gas. i start it again with the air flow meter sensor off and it ran, connected the afm and it died???? so it the afm im thinking.. right??? where is the knock sensor exactly??thankss
The car wont run without the AFM connected! Knock sensor is on the block, below the intake. Remove the alternator and you can get to it easy. You can still get to it without removing the alternator as well but its a little bit harder and have to know where it is. Its right next to the VSV mounted on top of the vacuum canister.
yesss it was the ks and afm was f up cause i pull it apart when i was doing a blown gasket bhg but it did ran when i disconnected the air flow meter, go try it but died when step on gas. thanks for the helpp
